Valentin Imperial Maya Brides?

Recommended Posts

Ohh man tipping.. it's been at the back of my head for a while. Honestly, I'll see how our budget is before we leave at the end of June. If I can spare some extra money, maybe I'll give her 50$ in an envelope and maybe a beauty kit (shower gel + cream) or something. I know I will end up giving her something, but all the little things really do add up and we are trying to be careful.

I think Veronica is new.. they had a couple other WCs but I can't remember their names.

What other "extras" is everyone else paying for? We've only decided to rent white tiffany chairs from Planner 1 Events (they quotes me 233$ for 25 chairs.. but I will only end up needing 22 so the price will go down a touch) and we are renting the sound system at the hotel. Besides bringing down centerpieces, I have 12 pink and purple lanters to bring and 6 tissue paper poms and Ariadna told me they would hang them for no extra charge.

I want to have a welcome dinner but Ariadna told me it was 10 people or less in a restaurant for "free" but if there are more than 10 people, it would be 37$ per person extra .. well forget it! I'm not paying extra for everyone to eat together when we're at an all inclusive! I told Ariadna I would have everyone meet at the buffet restaurant and we'd push a bunch of tables together and that's that.

The flower situation is crazy!  I sent Ana (my WC) pictures of different bouquets with orchids that I like and she sent me some that she has done in the past.  I purchased the most expensive package (don't know the same off hand) which is supposed to include my bouquet, my FI's boutinerre and 1 extra boutinerre.  Being that I want orchids, I now need to pay for all of my flowers even the ones that were supposed to be included in my package.  I feel like they make up some of the rules as they go along.

Oh yeah, and I still have no idea what my flowers are going to look like!  I asked her twice what picture she is going by and have yet to receive an answer about it.  They have no problem answering $ questions though!

Also, we are doing our own centerpieces.  I'm not at my home computer so I don't have the picture but I will post it tomorrow.  Our total cost per centerpiece is aprox $20 saving us about $250.

Although difficult at times, I'm trying not to get too stressed out over the communication and extra cost factor.  I just keep telling myself that the wedding is going to be beautiful no matter what!

I asked Veronica if we could get Tiffany chairs and she said yes, and quoted me $5 per chair. Why are you going through Planner 1 Events??

Nikki-

I too wanted orchids in my wedding bouquet. I wanted calla lilies and then a few orchids and Ariadna said it would cost much more because orchids are expensive. That's not fair. If the package states a bouquet is included then all flowers should be up for an option. But if not all flowers are.. then it should be stated in the agreement!! Not just decided whenever they want on whats covered and whats not!

Do you have the catalogue? I think those are the only ones included... if you want anything else it costs extra. At least, that's what I was told.

Yep, I asked Ariadna about my bouquet that's included in my package and she told me orchids were extra. Therefore, I asked to have white hydrangeas and white roses as my "free" bouquet and I will put it somewhere and then I'll use it as the tossing bouquet because I ordered real touch flowers for myself, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen!

I used Ardesign on etsy.com and she does NICE work! So for 425$ including shipping, I ordered my 10" bouquet (purple, fushia and white flowers), 4 bridesmaid bouquets (white hydrangeas, roses and whatever other white blooms), 3 groomsmen bouts (white ranunculus), 1 groom bout (1 fushia and 1 purple ranunculus with bear grass loop) and 1 pin on corsage for my mother (white flower).

I will give the free bout included in my package to my father.

I've heard from other brides that once you get down there and have your meeting with the WC, things go great. I've had a good experience with Ariadna so far... so I can't complain too much but yes, they are there to make money!

As for the tiffany chairs, Ariadna told me to deal with Planner 1 Events.. maybe Veronica will deal with them and you'll only have to pay the hotel because it was quite difficult getting the deposit to planner 1.. sent down a certified cheque and they couldn't cash it because it wasn't made out to the right name and I had to eventually send them the money via paypal. Anyways, long story!

They quoted me 6$ per chair + 2$ to move the chairs from the ceremony to the reception + 11$ tax = 230.88$ US

You're telling me they quoted you 5$ per chair??? WOW I'm going to find out about this!!!!!! Let you know .... grrrrrr.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
