I have to talk to Ariadna again about the rehearsal dinner but when we did our site visit, she told me that she would reserve us a couple tables for a welcome dinner. There's no way in hell I'm paying extra per person for food that's already included.. bad enough we have to pay the wedding package! Maybe I'm sounding cheap but they will do anything to get money so I'm going to deal with her as much as possible. Even if we get them to reserve us a section in the buffet restaurant.. that will be fine. Everyone will get to eat what they want in that case. We'll see!

I wanted to do mini cocktail shakers + cocktail mix pouches but I'm having a difficult time to find decent prices for the shakers and a company that delivers to Canada.

I refuse to pay for a rehearsal dinner as well!  Ana quoted $35pp.  We have a pretty large wedding party and an extended immediate family so our cost would be way too high!  I'm thinking of doing a "welcome dinner" for our bridal party and parents at the lobster pot the night before- after our rehearsal- and then "welcome drinks" after dinner for anyone else who wants to join at one of the bars.  All these extra costs are really ridiculous and are starting to bother me.

Also, we are doing maracas as well.  When on vacation in Puerto Vallarta this past October, we found a place that does custom ones for pretty cheap.

So I'm pasting a part of the Additional Services from the 2010-2011 Wedding Package info Ariadna sent me back in March of last year below.  I don't know why they would charge a per person fee for the rehearsal dinner unless you have the entire restaurant reserved for your rehearsal dinner!  It is so irritating to have to pay for dinner when everyone is already paying for it in the cost of thier trip!!!  My fiance refuses to pay $35pp for the rehearsal dinner, we might as well just go to a restaurant in a large group and have them seat us together instead!  All these extra charges are adding up!!

And it has me wondering if it will be too complicated to try and have dinner on other nights in larger groups at the resort...  Obviously not the entire group, but if we tried to have dinner with even 6 or 8 people!

Dinner

Set menu (guest stay in the hotel)                              $0 50.00 USD per person

Set menu (guest in other hotel)                                  $0 100.00 USD per person

Rehearsal                                                                   $   80.00 USD

Rehearsal Dinner (bridal party)                                  $   85.00 USD

Don't worry Sarah, it wasn't that complicated when you get there.  We had dinner together most nights as a group of 15.  We would meet in the plaza each night for a drink as a group and then decide who wanted to go where for dinner.  They often were able to seat us at 2 different tables and there usually wasn't much of a wait, depending on the restaurant and what time you like to eat.  The pager system for tables works awesome and we never minded relaxing with a drink for 30-60 minutes if we wanted larger talbes.

I feel a lot better hearing this from you. A big concern of mine is not being able to have a "rehearsal dinner"  because of not paying for it and not having enough seats for everyone.   I think I just need to take a step back, breathe and hope that once I'm down there I won't be as stressed as I am now.

In all honesty, I thought that having a DW would be less stressful but I think because of not having everything right in front of you, it ends up being more difficult.  I know it will be so worth it in the end though!

I feel the same way!! It was my Fi's idea to have the DW, and he convinced me by saying how much less stressful it would be, but I'm pretty sure it's just as bad. lol. You're right, it will all be worth it!

We're doing the custom maracas for favors and these beer steins as welcome gifts, that way our guests can use them during their stay (all-inclusive cups are too small!). I found the steins on Etsy...a set of 50 is $71.00. We just placed our order! Things are moving along!! :)

I LOVE THESE!!!!!!!!  We are thinking of doing koozies, but I think I actually like this better!!

Where are you getting your maracas from?  I initially thought I would be getting them from a resort I stayed at in Puerto Vallarta this past fall, but it seems to be falling through (the WC has yet to respond to me after 3 seperate emails). Therefore, I'm now looking into what my other options are.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
