Valentin Imperial Maya Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey girls! What time is your ceremony?? I, at first, said I wanted 5pm. Then I emailed her and switched it to 4pm. Now I'm having second thoughts.. I want it to be sunny out but I also do not want it in the middle of the day either. Should I do 5?? I have my photographer doing 1 hour of before shots, the ceremony, then after shots. I have her for a total for 3 hours. My wedding is May 10th.

Cait,

your pics are gorgeous, I really love your choices and think that your hair turned out beautiful.

I was debating about ceremony time too.  We originally said 4:30 but I was now thinking maybe 4:00.  We are getting married January 10th so I guess it will be a little different depending on the season.  What time was your ceremony Cait?

Ahollo,

I'm thinking 5:30 for the ceremony.  I did a sight visit at the end of the May this year, and it was so freakin' hot even at 6pm...and that's coming from someone who lives in Dallas, Texas!  I'm really nervous that I'll be miserable and sweaty, so I'm pushing my ceremony as late as possible, but still giving ourselves enough time to enjoy cocktail hour before it gets dark.  I looked up the sunset times, and on May 7th, the sun will set at 7:15.  I would do 5 if I were you...but that's just me :)

Hope this helps!

I think we are scheduled for 5, I need to check the sunset times but I'm not sure how I want the light. Probably to have the actual sunset when we are taking pictures after the ceremony and during the cocktail hour, right??

I'm getting real excited!

Are you all having a chuppa? How much are they charging? I have the examples and nothing blows me away but also think we need SOMETHING.

Thoughts?

I asked my photographer, Sol of Del Sol, and she said to go with 5:00 for the ceremony. I trust her opinion not only because she shoots so many weddings there, but she was also married in Riviera Maya and knows from the bride's perspective as well. Our wedding is in Oct. though so I don't know what the difference is in sunset times. If you've already snagged a photographer, I suggest asking him or her.

Thanks for all the input on ceremony times!! I eamiled Ariadna and asked to switch it to 5:30.

tinkertoy- I booked the moonlight package and am not sure what comes with that (ceremony set up). I eamiled Ariadna and asked for pics. I just assumed that the chuppa was part of the set up but probably not.. everything costs $$$$$

Yeah,  we need to start making some decisions. I checked and it said sunset on 12-11-10 is 5:07, so I am thinking that we need to back the ceremony up to 430 or so.

We are doing the middle package (unforgettable) which has the photography included so I guess I need their info to contact them and get the best recommendation for the times.

I had a feeling the chuppa would be $$...but I think it looks a little plain without something.

So many decisions and we have to get our invites ordered soon too!

Hey- can I see y'all's invites? We can't really decide on anything. I like more elegant and he likes modern.

Thoughts?

Will any of you brides be having your weddings or be at the Valentin 12/24-12/26?? DH and I are staying there for a couple of days before going to Secrets Maroma.

If there are any pictures or anything that someone wants, send me a PM! More than happy to help if I can, since I'll be visiting!

Wow - I'm getting so much great info from this thread! Fi and I have settled on the Valentin for our wedding, and I'm getting pretty excited after reading all this!!

A couple of questions - In the wedding packages it says the beach or the gazebo for ceremony locations. We're not religious, but I like the idea of the chapel. Does anyone know why that's not listed?? Also, is the cross in the chapel able to be moved?

I think we're sending out STD's a little unconventionally. Since everything is happening around Christmas, we want to give people as much time as possible to save and plan. We're sending STD's out in November (a year ahead) to give people a head's up that details about locale, dates and pricing will be coming in early January. Then our TA is sending out an email with booking details in early January and they will have 30 days to put a deposit down to get the guaranteed rate.

I've seen lots of lit lanterns as decor on the terrace - has anyone done white lights in the trees? I think I'd like to do that but I'm wondering if they would have extension cords?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
