Well that's about it! I hope that these pictures convince you to book here.. the Valentin has top notch reviews on Tripadvisor.com. You can find room pics on their website and my parents have stayed here and they said it was amazing... they found it a little dead and quiet at night, but that was two years ago. Ariadna told me that they now have theme nights (Mexican night, etc) as well as outdoor entertainment in the lobby terrace with fire shows and dancers. If you're really that bored....playa del carmen is 25 mins away!

We are planning on booking here but I have to wait until June to choose a date since I'm not sure which school I'll be working in next year, I have to wait and see...!

Missyri - the terrace will definitly hold more people than the lobster pot, and as far as I know, the lobster pot is not available for receptions for large parties. There are a few options for reception sites, but again, if you're having a larger party, you'll probably want to be at the terrace. It was way to big for us to use, but I've seen some good size receptions held there as well. Another reason why I wouldn't recommend the lobster pot is because it's basically a giant gazebo split in half; half of it is the lobster pot and the other half is the steak restuarant. The lobster pot also was not my favorite meal while we were there, not that it was bad, but it was't my favorite.

I will be writing my review of the VIM this weekend, and I'll post a link to it here as well as several pictures. :-)

Ariadna sent me these two pictures of the Lobster Pot. We were planning to have our reception at the terrace of the Mexican restaurant, but changed our minds to the Lobster Pot when we found out we wouldn't have more than 15-20 guests.

I haven't been to the Valentin since June, but I think I remember this part of the Lobster Pot being a more private area (it's separate from the main part of the restaurant)-you can see from the pictures that a large reception just wouldn't fit. I've also heard that the food at the Lobster Pot is good, but not the best, but since there are only 3 universal choices for reception dinner menus no matter the reception location, I'm hoping it's the same quality as the other restaurants. When I was there last summer, I had lunch at this restaurant almost every day, and it was great!

The Mexican Terrace looks absolutely lovely, but just wouldn't work with the small group I'm planning on having.

Hoyt-can't wait for your review!!!

I'm so sorry ladies, I guess I had misunderstood what you meant by having a reception at the lobster pot. Yes - their is a a seperate area off of the big area for dinner, so it's like a gazebo off of a gazebo, if that makes any sense, lol. It is secluded, during the night and the day b/c of all the growth around, so it makes it rather intimate. However, the big gazebo, or the main part of the lobster pot, is right next to it, so it's not private. The picture above shows the walkway shooting off of the main gazebo and to the little gazebo.

Sorry if I'm non making any sense or making it worse!!!

p.s. - I have the dinner menue options that I plan on posting with my review. AND all of the flower, cake, chuppah, etc options.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
