ahollo - You're welcome. They're not easy to get a hold, in fact, communication can be down right difficult. When we booked our wedding at the VIM, I didn't hear anything back from them via e-mail for 3 days, so I called the resort and asked if I could speak with the wc and was interested in booking a wedding date. After I said that I wanted to book a date they were very quick to get back with me. If you call ther resort, make sure you do it around 10 a.m. they're time. The wc get really busy in the afternoon/evening dealing with other weddings. Be persistant and you'll get what you want out of them. Also, remember that they're idea of being prompt isn't what we would consider prompt. It's a totally different culture.

Shamrock - I have soooooo many questions! What package did you choose? How many people are going? Who's your photographer? I haven't done a lot of planning and it's only 51 days away!!! Give us details!

Hey all, just read through all the pages in this thread. Just sent out an email tonight to the WC at Valentin for information... looking towards a June 2011 wedding. Packages seem very reasonable, but prices for guests are averaging between 1700-1800$ per person for 7 nights. It's a bit steep! I LOVE the resort, my parents went there two years ago and thought it was amazing but they said it was 'dead' at night. I guess we'll have our own fun! I asked quite a few questions in my email so will post replies when I get them if there's new info to add here.

Hi All!

I'm in the midst of planning a destiantion wedding for Feb 2011 - My fiance and i really love the Valentin - I'm wondering if someone can send me some pictures of the reception/ceremony options?? I love the fact that they have a chapel as an option..the big wooden gazebo type thing looks great for an outside reception venue. I hope you all know what I'm referring to?? Feedback is much needed!!

Thanks!!

Angela

Angie - We're getting married on the beach if weather permits, otherwise we'll get married in the chapel. I've heard that the Valentin has a lot of bugs, which I can't stand, so for this reason we didn't choose the gazebo in the garden.

Ahollo - We didn't send save the dates b/c we're having a very private wedding. IMO I would send them pretty early for a destiantion wedding. I kinda wish we would have started our planning a lot sooner to give more people time to save for the trip. We booked and started planning our wedding over Thanksgiving 09 for our wedding April 3 2010. Though it's plenty of time for us b/c we know what we're doing, it didn't seem to give others enough time to save.

ahollo02: Ariadna sent me the EXACT same email.. I guess they must have some pre-made ones for all the requests they have!

We are almost 100% booking with Valentin despite the high price for our guests. I'm really going to do what I want to regardless.. I already talked to a few of my friends and they said it's not 100-150$ that will stop them from coming. Yay!

Ariadna sent me 4 pictures for reception locations: Lobster pot (brownish wooden gazebo), mexican terrace (open area with small fountain in the middle of area, tables around fountain) and the much too large terrace at the main entrance. Since we're only going to be about 25 people.. I might choose the gazebo (Lobster pot) but will still try for some place near a pool.. we'll see!

Just found out today that I can meet Ariadna March 3rd during my vacation in Mexico. I will take tons of pics and can send them to some of you who are curious.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
