My Wine Club is hosting a party in my honour on Saturday!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ladies,

I am so excited, yesterday I learned that my Wine Club ladies are hosting a special unofficial wine club pool party at my second mother's house on Saturday! I am thrilled. I kinda think it is early to be having wedding events, but I can see why it is now (being July and we live in Northern Ontario) because of weather.

I'd like to share a wee bit about my wine club, we are a bunch of wine-o's all from different backgrounds (meaning I am the baby at 27 years old, our oldest member is in her late 60's, thus we are all at different stages in our lives), the common thread that holds us together is our love of wine and food. I am also in the a sub-group of the wine club where we cook the gourmet food for the tastings called 'cravings - gourmet club'.

Having said all that, I am just tickled to have all of these women getting together in my honour. My second mother (best friend's mom - who is a boy - and an only child) is the one that got me involved in the wine club. My mother and MIL are not in the club, but have been invited to the event.

I have completed my mini speech and toasts for the event and thought I'd share!

We are hosted here today, by my second mother, who has always proudly explained that she stole me from my real mother. She has been proud of me and supported me for over a decade, and poured me a glass of wine to celebrate my triumphs, and poured me several glasses when times were tough. I am honoured to be her favourite daughter. Thank you for hosting this fantastic day!

I'd also like to thank everyone for coming out this afternoon. I am aware that today was supposed to be a surprise; but the cat got let out of the bag. Our wedding is coming so quickly, and I am so honoured to be surrounded by everyone here. I could never have expected a day like this.

I donâ€t think we could have ever predicted the fun weâ€d have when the ‘Cravings†food group was born. Each of you has had a role in the betterment of my drinking and cooking ability – Chad can definitely be a testament to both! Although the official wine club has dissolved, it is obvious that the friendships havenâ€t.

To wine and friends – the only two things that get better with age!

SALUT!

And now to my Moms – I think I happen to be really lucky and have three of them.

Mom #2 – Alta, I think that our love of wine has brought us together, and I happen to remember the first bottle of wine I brought over here – it was your fortieth birthday. I remember going home and asking my mom to run to the liquor store to pick up it up for me. Since then we have shared many more bottles.

To my Mom #2 – Alta, thank you for teaching me that wine cannot fully be appreciated until weâ€ve drank the whole bottle!

SALUT!

To my soon to be Mom – Lizzy, I think that it was probably wine that brought Chad into the world – I would bet that wine can be thanked for giving you the strength not to kill him over the past thirty years. I know that in the next thirty years, Iâ€ll be doing the same.

To my soon to be Mom – Liz, thank you for keeping the wine rack full!

SALUT!

To my Mom – Angela, I think it is our Italian heritage that has brought out the wine-o in me. – I would bet that wine can be thanked for giving you the strength not to kill me over the past thirty years. I promise Iâ€ll keep the wine rack full, because in the next thirty years, Chad will probably need it.

To my mom – Angela, thank you for serving me my first glass of wine… in my highchair!

SALUT!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
