How much is too much to ask guests to pay for an all-inclusive week in Mexico

That is pretty much the price range for a nice all inclusive for a week these days. That is just what it costs! So what are you going to do? You cannot control resort prices!

Last trip to an all inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen (Riu) we paid $2,000 each including flight from Toronto, for travel in mid Feb.

Some guests will think it's too much, some won't...it's your wedding though and you are providing the opportunity for many to also take a vacation!

I think the suggestions of letting them book their own travel is good. That way they can do less days or more, depending on their schedules and financial situation.

Well for us... just the rooms are going to be 1300/couple for 3 nights at the Grand, 1000/per for 3 nights at Maya, and 815/couple for 3 nights at Lindo... flights will probably be about 600-1200 per person because everyone is flying from different areas. We are staying for about 7-8 nights and it wll cost about 3000 for just the rooms at the Grand.

I'm putting on my STD that prices are subject to change based on # attending and when packages are be booked.

So if they go up or down, people will be forewarned if they go up beforehand.

Hey.... I know what you mean...

Our trip from Toronto is $1577 per person plus taxes, so just over $1800 per person for 7 days. I didn't think that was much as I have paid that (or close to that) for almost all the trips I have been on. We got a couple comments here and there about the price, but we have 38 people booked so those who truly wanted to come, are coming.

If they want it to be cheaper, they can stay at a 2 star resort and get a day pass... sorry if I am being rude, but its true!!!

I would also let your guests know that if they choose to stay at the Lindo or Maya to save money on the trip they will need to pay for a day pass to go to the Grand, unless you are covering that for them. I'm getting married at the Lindo and some people asked about staying at the Del Mar which is cheaper so I had to let them know about the passes, and they decided to stay at the Lindo since it would have cost them the same amount.

Actually I put that on our STD, that we are paying for the pass for the day of the wedding for those that stay else where. heehee.. hoping I have all my bases covered my STD.

Wow, thank you so much for all the responses, you guys have really made me feel better about this whole thing :). We actually got our new quote, and it is only $1449 + tax, so it isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be :S. Now we'll just have to sit back and see what happens!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
