ROR Big weddings...

Recommended Posts

I'm getting married January 19th, and curious if anyone on here had a large wedding?? We're bringing about 100 people, and Chandlyn said a restaurant couldn't accomodate that many people. If thats the case, then what have other brides done on here??

Thanks!

Kristin

I had 85 guests at my wedding and we fit in the downstairs at the Plantation no problem. I can easily see fitting 100 there. If for some reason they won't let you do that (which you should complain about), you can have your reception on the beach.

Also, Marcia had at least 100 guests (if I'm remembering correctly?) and hers was in the Plantation a few days before mine.

We just don't want to pay that much, she said it would be $55 per person for the beach that's just waaay to much to pay for 100 ppl. We wanted to get the free dinner at the plantation, then have the beach reception afterwards. If you wedding includes dinner for your guests then it should be included, right??

Isn't the only way you can get the free dinner is if you go to Mammee Bay? Don't you have to pay to rent the Plantation? (I may have missed something along the way)

I do agree, if you are to have a "free dinner" it should be accommodated somehow regardless of the number of people in your group.

My understanding is that the only "free reception" offered at ROR is at Mammee Bay for groups less than 50 people. If you have more than 50 you will have to pay for some sort of private reception.

Previously it has cost $500/ 2 hours to rent out the Plantation. The $500 includes the space and dinner for the group. (not sure about a bar though?). There are also options to upgrade the menu, but I believe the $500 covers a basic one for your group. Brides have rented the Plantation for 2 hours and then moved on to Seagrape or the Disco. Others have rented the Plantation for 4 hours ($1000) and had the dancing portion there as well. You can have a dj for $150/hour I think.

Also just wanted to make sure you know that for the beach (Seagrape) reception... if you want open bar it will cost $10/person.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
