A little behind in planning?

Hello Everyone!

So we joined this site, b/c we are a little behind in our planning. We just got engaged and decided we wanted to have our wedding in May of 2009 in Punta Cana, DR. We haven't set an exact date or hotel, b/c we haven't been able to find one yet. Well, we have contacted numerous travel agents and all of them are 300-500 more than us booking our trips ourselves. We know we like Ocean Blue, Barcelo Bavaro, and the Riu chain. Feel free to make any suggestions.

Thanks,

Matt & Ashley

We are also having our wedding in Punta Cana! We booked our trip about three weeks ago. We are staying at the Dreams resort, which just looks beautiful. But don't they all?

I also wanted to let you know that we LOVE our TA! We have used her a few times in booking local trips, Florida and such. She is VERY informative and extreamly helpful! Any time we contact her she always responds that day and I never feel like I am bothering her. And I always have a ton of questions! But she always does her best to answer and I am just very impressed with her! Also, our trip cost us the same going through her as it did booking it on the website. I'm sure your not local (missouri here!), but I ams sure you could deal with her over the phone if you like. I actually have only stopped in once, and that was to figure out what resort to stay at. Since then all our communication has been through e-mail and phone calls and she just mailed us our reciept when we put down our deposit. So if you wanna contact her, her name is Carrie Willard. She works at Majestic Travel. Their phone number is 636-397-2100, let her know Sandy sent you, I promise she'll take care of you! Let me know how it goes! It's at least worth calling and checking her out.

You should defitenly start out by checking the Dominican Republic section off the forum, that may help you with some of the resort ?s.

We have plenty of travel agents here on the forum that could defitenly help you. Just send them a PM.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
