Male Newbie from NY - We need some Re-assurance

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I actually stumbled upon this site while looking for some reviews of the resort we are having our wedding at. My fiance and I own a time share at PB sunset beach so we decided to have it there because we thought the resort was beautiful. Ever since we started dealing with the resorts WC we have been having our doubts as to how many weddings they actually host. I was hoping someone out there could give us some good news and tell us that they know what they are doing and we don't need to worry about anything. Any stories would be helpful...good or bad, someone who actually got married there would be great. We chose to have our wedding on a Thursday, June 14th 2007 and we are having the ceremony on the beach at 6:00 with the reception to follow on the La Nao Terrace. Any help is definitely appreciated so as to avert a potential meltdown by the both of us. Thanks.

Mike

Welcome Mike!

I'm getting married at the Sheraton. I think someone from this forum got married at PB Sunset beach, but I can't remember who.

Have you considered hiring an outside wedding coordinator to help? It might take some of the stress off of the two of you and ensure that the day runs smoothly...just an idea.

Good luck!

Hi Mike! I know there was one bride that got married there & had negative feelings about the coordinator, but positive ratings about the other components of her wedding. I've PM'd you some info.

Here are some threads you can take a look at, if you haven't already. I also pasted in a review by one of the girls on this forum that was married at the PB Sunest. Hope this helps! If nothing else, it will give you something to read tonight!

*I opted to PM you the review ... you might already have it though!

    • Hello Everyone, I am new here, I heard about this site from a friend of mine that had a destination wedding back in 2012 which was beautiful.  I am leaning towards the DR if I find a place that has all that I am looking for if not Mexico is another great option. Thinking of May 2020 if that is enough time to plan this! I like modern looks, all inclusive for sure.  I definitely want the beach very very close to the pools and rooms, a swim up bar is a must.  I really like the idea of the swim ups in the rooms if possible.  I am going to have friends that bring their kids so it can't be adult only.  I do want to get married on the beach which seems like most of the all inclusive resorts offer. My friend got married at the SENSATORI AZUL BEACH RESORT RIVIERA MAYA and it had all I would want in a resort if anyone has stayed there and has any advice. Thanks for all the help ahead of time.   M&B

    • They forgot the wedding cake topper   Okay, so no big deal - just a once in a lifetime moment. The upsetting part is the wedding coordinator, Dionne, did not seem at all concerned about the mistake. The only reason we got an apology was because we happened to run into her the night before we left. Our wedding was on Saturday we left Wednesday morning. We were told we could escalate our concern to Riu corporate, the wedding coordinator doesn’t have a supervisor on site. Riu corporate said they did their best and apologized. Brides, go to Jamaica, get married, but do yourself a favor and do not go to a Riu resort, especially not Riu Negril. I am certain there are other resorts that would have been in touch immediately and tried to make up for their mistake. Not Riu.
