RM Non couple oriented AI needed?

Recommended Posts

girls/guys...i have a friend that is going through a rough break up and wants to take off next month with some other single girls and head to RM for a long weekend.

They want the ease and relaxation of an AI but not the romantic atmosphere that a lot of AI's have.

Does anyone know of a great AI for singles that won't rub couples and weddings in their face?

i know most of us know of the romantic / couple / wedding places but figured with all the location research that we all do maybe you could help?

Thanks in advance!smile03.gif

Hmmm...ok on the Riviera Maya, I've stayed at the Mayan Palace and the Grand Mayan which share the same grounds - both are not all inclusive. The Grand Mayan is the more modern of the two, but both extremely nice accommodations with kitchens. I can email pics if your friend wants some sort of visual reference. Massive resort, almost like a city in itself with its own medical clinic, HUGE 24-hour pools (about 20). And not a whole lotta wedding or couples activity going on, your girls would have a blast.

Another great option is anywhere in Playa del Carmen because they will have close access to Avenue 5 - the boardwalk of shops, restaurants and bars and a fabulous beach friday.gif ~ a great place to spend late afternoons and evenings with friends. Tons of singles here too!!

Another great way to go is by staying at condos or villas. Akumal is a nice little town that is so beautiful, you'll pretty much forget all your troubles there. Fantastic snorkeling and swimming. But everything shuts down about 10ish, more so a daytime town. But the waters and laid-back feel here is unmatched in my opinion. TONS of pics of these places too :)

Best way to get a feel for what the non all-inclusive options are on locogringo.com , a site that caters to the Riveria Maya. Hope this helps out your friend!! A visit to the RM is def a great way to clear her mind :)

I haven't actually been to the Moon Palace yet, but I know it's HUGE....so I doubt it has that romantic intimate feeling unless you look for it....I know there are some girls on here who have been there before, so maybe they could agree or disagree...(I might be completely wrong lol...)

I think something in PDC would be nice. Just something with a nightlife. my hotel wouldn't have been fun for singles. it was the type of place where you only hang out with the group you are with. Not a lot of mingling going on.

So i think being in PDC or a hotel like described above where there is a lot of action would be the best.

I can't say enough about the Paradisus Riviera Cancun. Love it. And while it's beautiful, it's not overtly romantic. If they want fun and rowdy, it's there. Same of quiet and calm, especially if they stay in the Royal Service area.

I have been to both Cancun and the RM and found that Cancun was geared more towards singles. There is/was (when I was there) a lot of really fun bars and clubs and I honestly had the time of my life (when I was single). Then when I had a long term boyfriend we started vacationing in the RM.

A definite singles-type all inclusive is the Oasis. Or I think the Grand Oasis perhaps. I think there are several at different price ranges. I haven't been for 2.5 years but at that time, that was the happening spot. Not sure on the food quality there as I heard it wasn't the greatest.

If you want to be close (walking distance) to some bar areas) I also stayed at the Riu Cancun. And there was a mall across the street, and we walked to clubs.

Cancun is a really fun spot from my experiences!!! Really fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
