The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Does anyone know how long it typically takes Aurora to reply to emails? I sent her my official "wedding planning document" (that she requested) about two weeks ago with lots and lots of questions and haven't heard back. Our wedding is less than 2 months away... and i'm getting a bit nervous (but super excited!!) :)

The night before our wedding we want to have an informal meet and greet at the bar after our rehearsal since all our guests will have arrived by that point. I have been waiting for over a week to hear back from Aurora at Dreams---They have yet to get back to me. Any insight from you all would be great! Thanks!

Not long now...pinkie.gif
The answer to this varies greatly. You are in high season at the moment so I assume responses will be slow.
They got much better at responding in the 6-4 weeks before the wedding.
Why dont you post some of your questions here and see if we can help?

For anyone who is interested, there is a dreams tulum page on facebook and if you post questions on there, there is usually a person who can answer them. Sometimes they just refer you to the appropriate email like spa.dretu@...., etc, but sometimes, they actually answer your questions on facebook. If you are interested....

I just realized that the reception included in the wedding packages is for only three hours (after that, they start charging per person). This is probably a dumb question, but what happens after the reception is over?

It just seems strange that it can't be longer - if dinner takes, say, an hour and a half (from what I've heard, service is slow) then guests really only have like an hour to dance afterward? Then does everyone just go hang out at a bar? It says in the program that they start charging per person for open bar, which seems weird, because it's an all-inclusive resort.

Has anyone else's reception gone longer than three hours, and if so, any idea on how much they charge?? I'm kinda disappointed - I was hoping the packages could be for longer.

Hi Amy,

They charge $15/person/hr if you want to go beyond the 3hrs included. However, you can only go past 10:30pm if you have the reception indoors (in the ballroom). We are getting married there in about 3 weeks with 100 guests and we opted for the ballroom so we can have our reception last longer. So our ceremony is on the beach at 6pm..we will have a cocktail hour on the beach from 6:30p-7:30p while we watch the sunset...then we will move in to the ballroom for dinner and dancing from 7:30p-12:30am.

Hope the planning is going well!

I am starting to think about things to put in the OOT bags. Does DT use swipe cards as room keys? I am wondering if I should get little plastic card holders or if this will be a waste of money. Any help is appreciated :)

Yes they use credit card sized room keys. I wished I'd done holders, I kept forgetting/loosing my room key! LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
