The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Has anybody heard anything about a new fee for the judge/minister? On the website, it says the cost is now $600, which I'm assuming is included if you are buying a package (or getting the free package), but that is much more than it used to be. Also, I saw a bride post something under a thread about free weddings that say there was a $300 new surcharge for the judge because of a new law or something. Has anyone else heard anything about this??

When I asked Claudia Wedd Coord, I asked her to break it down for me and this is what she said:

Marriage Certificate $120.00
Blood Exam $165.00
Transportation $50.00

Thank you!! That's helpful because I didn't know the price of the blood exam had gone up. Is the marriage certificate an added cost, or is it included in the wedding package? I don't remember seeing any part about the cost of the marriage certificate - or is that for the certified translated copy that you can request to get 2-4 months later?

Now my travel agent is telling me that this promotion ran out. I am going to have some very angry gusts- most of them already booked flights. Is anyone else running into this problem?
Urgh, I am sorry, I cannot help you with the kids club, but I can tell you that my TA SUCKED too. She was SO horrible, about not ever EVER getting back to me, never knew what was going on etc., that I told my guests NOT to use her. Sharon Malespena from Apple Vacations, she was just horrific... I honestly don't know how she stays in business....
So I'm sorry you are having a hard time =(

that sucks... my TA has been pretty good- who are u using? I went thru DestinationWeddings.com and my TA warned me about that promotion occurring occasionally throughout the year. She said we could just wait until the promotion happens and book the kids then. Unfortunately the kids we invited can't come, so we never had to deal with this... could you switch travel agents? If you're event isn't that close, maybe you can start using someone else that you like a little bit better? I'm sorry you're having issues with that- who needs that stress?

thx for posting this! I'm a month away, and realized this morning I didn't know how many songs to pick for before during and just after the ceremony. and i love your non-traditional picks. So cool.

How in the world is that going to work? Do I need to bring shortened versions of the songs or will the coordinator know what to do?? I' m so lost on this subject, would appreciate any input!
On another subject, are most of you planning on going straight into your cocktail hour or are you leaving a gap so you can get pictures without missing the cocktail hour yourselves? These last minute thoughts are creeping up and haunting me!
We decided (or rather, the hotel WC decided for us) to have an hour gap between ceremony and cocktail hour. The ceremony is at 4pm, and should be over by 4:30pm, and the WC said it's too hot to for a cocktail hour then (?) so we'll have the cocktail hour from 5:30- 6:30 and reception 6:30-9:30 (even though i am going to make sure it goes 'til 10!). I didn't mind, since that means we can go to the cocktail hour too. We have the Mexican trio playing. should be fun!

I haven't been able to find any threads about brides planning something like this and recommended vendors... has anyone else seen anything along these lines or can advise me where to look? Thanks in advance!
we booked a catamaran tour for our guest (48 booked and counting!) with Paradise Catamarans after I did a lot of research online (tripadvisor.com) and spoke with a few vendors over the phone. We sail May 16th-- and I'm happy to include a review when we get back. They are a one boat operation, with a max of 50 people capacity, and they operate out of Puerto Adventuras. They are picking us all up in a bus, and said it's about a 40/45 min drive from Dreams Tulum. I can't wait!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
