also wondering....I think we are going with the ultimate wedding package, and I know the basic set up is included, but is it in fact an extra $12 on top of that per chair bow with flowershuh.gif That seems crazy expensive if we are having 30 guests we have to pay an additional $360 just for the bows!!!! Any insight would be great! Thx

Tracy is right, they are amazing. We used them at our cocktail hour last week and the guests loved them!! My husband and I got to hear the last 20 minutes or so. I would definitely recommend them for your cocktail hour, they'll keep your guests entertained and all together while you and your husband are off having pictures taken. I only wish we could've had them longer!

About the safes, we used ours every single day. We did have a couple of problems with ours in two different rooms, but we just had to call the front desk to send someone down to re-set it.

Has anyone used the Mexican Trio? and when did you have them play?

Can the ceremony be done in English by the judge? Or does someone have to translate?

The only documents needed for a civil ceremony are your passport, birth certificate and the tourist cardhuh.gif

Do the safes in the room work ok?

Do you have to pay for the judge's transportation? About how much was it?

Can you use an MP3 player to play music for the ceremony on the beach?

Sorry I had more than I thought. Thanks ladies. Sounds like everyone has had a great time so far. I'm getting so excited!!

No, they will put bows on chairs for you as a part of the set up included in the ultimate wedding package. If you have them hanging paper lanterns and draping material at your reception like my husband and i did, then they will charge you another set-up fee.

Lauren, Welcome home and congrats! The little picture posted at the bottom of your comments looks great! Looking forward to any review or comments you'd like to share...

I had a question for you (Im sure many more will follow,) how much "ribbon" or chair wrapping did you bring? How many lanterns, and draping material did you bring? Did you carry it all with you? I'm just about to order mind and wanted to double check on the amount. Thanks! And congrats again!

Denise - I asked this question too a couple days ago. I guess it all just depends on whether you are having a symbolic ceremony or a civil ceremony. I know on the first couple pages of the forum there is some information about programs, etc. We're still trying to figure out how to organize our civil ceremony for program purposes. I would hate to get them all printed and paid for only to get down there and be told we couldn't do it that way.....

Sunbride (or anyone else who may know) how much fabric did you need for the sticks (the "gazebo" as they call it)? I know my mom purchased some white fabric (organza??) but I would like to also order some purple tulle or something to just add a little color. I don't want to order too much, or get down there and have it not be enough.

Thanks!

Question about music... I have asked about the band a couple times, but it doesnt seem like anyone has used them. Is this just because of cost, or is it because they aren't very good? I know a lot of people have used DJ Mannia, have you been able to have music past 10:30pm? For example, we are getting married at 6pm, having the cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30, and then the reception from 7:30-? We originally were going to close El Patio, but with people dropping like flies, we won't have enough people to do that. We are now thinking of having the reception on the patio at El Patio, and having the restaurant open. Will we be able to do this and still have a band/DJ? Are they strict about the 10:30 policy?

Thanks, Lindz! I look forward to sharing my review with everyone!

As for chair sashes and draping material, I actually rented them from a local company. I'm positive you can find chair sashes for as cheap as $1 per piece. That's what I got mine for! We had 45 guests, and the lady gave me 50 (no charge for the extra 5). Then you don't have to worry about buying, how long they should be, etc. She gave me the same material for draping (Just longer, wider pieces - $75) and also threw some chiffon in on top of it! However, the draping is another story. DT wasn't going to drape my rented stuff, b/c apparently they staple it to the ceiling at SG! I told Landy to just make sure that the staff didn't RIP them down afterward and to carefully take them down. It all worked out, but keep that in mind with draping material.

I ordered 14 of the 12" paper lanterns and 10 of the 20" lanterns (paperlanternstore.com). I ordered the battery operated kind (each takes 3AAA) and brought batteries for them. DT didn't hang them all, probably only 15 or so. I should've asked Landy beforehand, cause it is a pain bringing them down there! They don't lay completely flat b/c of the battery pack in the middle. The 20" ones, although they were beautiful, just squeezed into our largest suitcase. We asked my cousin to bring some, too. We asked yet another guest to bring the chair sashes and draping material (took up one medium sized suitcase).

Sorry, this will all go in my review, but thought you should know now! Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
