The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

I also emailed her to move back the wedding time from 500 to 430 and she also said no because another wedding was booked at 330. She said if they cancelled we could move the time up. I too am worried about running out of time.

Did someone say they already had the 2011 price guide?  I emailed Landy and she said it's not available till November.  I have done zero planning!  Gotta get my butt in gear here or it's going to be a very simple wedding :)

I would say this is the best advice you could give to any brides who are looking into getting married at DT!

An acquaintance of mine got married at DT last December. She was never a member of BDW, never even heard of it (poor girl)! She was 100% thrilled and amazed by the wedding Dreams Tulum provided her with. She went into the process with only the wedding coordinator and wedding guide as a reference... and was not disappointed at all!

I think us BDW brides are slightly spoiled by the fact that we get to hear other brides reviews and experiences and expect that we should get the same service and be allowed to bend the rules a little because other brides did. Ex. having two entrees, setup costs waived, no outside vendor fees, free room upgrades... etc... whereas if you didn't hear that other brides got this you would never think to expect it.

The bottom line is that DT will still provide you with a BEAUTIFUL wedding...You just have to expect to pay for everything you wish you receive. The one thing that does really piss me off is the inconsistency between all the different Dreams Resorts. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the other Dreams resorts take the same business approach to weddings as DT, rather than the other way around sad.gif

Would you consider doing Bride and Groom pictures before the ceremony? Apparently this is a really popular option... its called "first look" wedding photos. Photographers LOVE when the schedule allows for this because they get really amazing pictures without being rushed. That way you could get great photos in daylight without worrying about time!

It just really depends on whether or not you want him to see you for the first time walking down the aisle!

I just had a question pop up from reading someone's review on trip advisor about their daughter's wedding.  Were any of you past brides charged an additional fee when using your credit card to have the funds exchanged to pseo's?

We have been making payments for our wedding before we go down and our credit card company charges us a 2.7 % foreign transaction fee and one of our other cards wanted t charge us 3.4% so make sure you check w/ your credit card company nothing to do w/ the resort.

Well said, I agree with you 100% - just like if you were to have a wedding in the States you would be paying for everything and anything - don't expect something for nothing.

I agree with having to pay for something...but you have to remember, we are bringing in LOTS of money to the hotel. If we had a wedding at the states, our guests would be spread out over lots of hotels, so I wouldn't expect the hotel(s) to give me anything. Having said that, I have attended out of town weddings of my friends, and stayed at their requested hotel..and the hotel would set up a complimentary cocktail hour EVERY night we were there, for their wedding guests only. A nice thank you for booking all your guests through us from the hotel....which I thought was very nice.

Because of this, I do expect the hotel to waiver a few items...nothing crazy. I don't see why I should have to pay $150 base set up + another $3/pp to tie bows to chairs, bows that I purchased and brought from the States. I would feel screwed doing that in the States for sure!  Pick a fee, you can either charge me $150 or $3/pp, but not BOTH. Some of these fees aren't even listed in detail in the wedding guide, so it's sort of a surprise when you get your final bill.

Also, I don't understand why we can't have 2 entree choices for the dinner. Every wedding in the States I've been to has asked me "Meat, Chicken, or Veggie". When I talk to my guests about how we only get one choice, I'm met with crazy eyes, like how is that possible? Why wouldn't they give you 2 options with 75+ guests? Just meat and fish. A lot of my guests don't eat fish and a lot don't eat meat....so I'm screwed having only one option. They might all get vegetarian lasagna....most expensive lasagna of their lives!

The lack of meal choices is def my biggest disappointment too. My family/friends have a lot of food allergies/sensitivities and stuff. 6 people allergic to shellfish/seafood... 3 vegetarians, 1 vegan... 6 people don't eat beef... 3 refuse to eat fish. I think my only option is to offer the chicken and veg lasagna.

They do offer vegetarian lasagna as a second choice for vegetarians... but I still don't know what to do about my sister who is vegan!

I just keep reminding myself that people will be able to choose their own meals for the rest of the week and the wedding food is only one night.

So glad I am also not the only one who finds this super annoying!  We have 4 vegetarians and a vegan as well and even a few people with wheat allergies.  We're going to choose the beef option and hope people are ok with the lasagna!  I'm getting married in Jan. so will let you know if we figure out an alternative.

    • Sorry you had to deal with this I hoped it worked out. It seems to be every few months a new store will be in the  'if' stage and to the 'when' stage.  Big businesses like this don't notify the employees or customers before they close down...that would cause even more losses.  One day there are signs on the door and the business is done.  And lots of people (employees and customers...not to mention the creditors that they owe millions to) get screwed immediately with little help to be found anywhere.  Look at alfred angelo, although they had less retail stores than David's Bridal, they may have had more sales than them as a company.  They were the largest manufacturer of dresses and were carried by thousands of independent stores across the world (not just the 60+ branded stores they had).  If you google search Davids Bridal going bankrupt, they are listed on all the sites that post retail stores on life support.  They have more debt than they will be able to service in 2019 and the only question right now is if they'll make it that far.  Once the debt comes due, it's almost a 100% certainty that the company will be done.  But it's also more probable than not that the bankruptcy will happen much sooner than that.  The argument about them getting a new line or how big they are isn't a good argument if you look at the history of how these normally happen.  Alfred Angelo had a brand new line of dresses that never even hit the stores but were made overseas already...those all made their first appearances at the liquidation auctions.  I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but just trying to make sure that people understand that when a company gets to this point, it's definitely a roll of the dice if you are ordering something that you can't take home today.  How much of a risk?  That's hard to say, but I am extremely confident that the pain felt when alfred angelo closed 61 stores will be even greater when Davids Bridal closes 300+ stores…and when there are other great discount dress stores out there like Bridepower or Vows Bridal Outlet on the East Coast or Brilliant Bridal in the West (and plenty of others as well), I don’t think I would personally recommend any of my friends to take that risk!  But that’s just me:)
    • Hello all!! I'm planning to get married next week. I'm working in an MNC and I'm gonna marry my colleague who is in my company. It's been ten months since we have started our relationship. He used to support in all my difficulties and used to help me in my work. Always he used to tell me about my smile. He says that I have a very good smile and he loves it. Recently I lost my front tooth after an accident and it resulted in a bad look for me. He told me that I lost my beautiful smile. I was totally disappointed and thought of finding a solution. I heard about dental dentures and took an appointment at a clinic in Scarborough. Will dentures affect my speech? What was your experience of getting dentures?
    • Go for the third one. It is gorgeous and you will look stunning in that. I'm sure you will be noticed by other people. Go for it.
    • I would suggest the long one. You will look stunning in that. It is simple and elegant.
    • Both the gown are awesome and I'm sure you will look gorgeous in both. But I would suggest the first one. Go for it and Congratulations for your marriage.
