Oh Thanks for answering this question! This saves me the headache of actually trying to get a WC to answer my question!

I can do without hanging paper lanterns if it means saving some $$

I asked about the gazebo and hanging lanterns, but for those you will have to pay the $150 to get them to do it. They told me that it was a safety issue, they don't want a guest to be on a ladder on fall and break something!

But for any decorations that you don't need a ladder for, you can do it yourself. I received this response in August of this year, so it was very recent.

If anyone has the 2011 copy of the wedding guide I would love to get a copy please, our wedding is March 28th and I would like to know ahead of time how much they are raising the prices!!

Hope this helps!

I had asked Natalia about having the DJ provide the sound system and music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception. She said that the DJ cannot play during the ceremony and that we'd have to rent the sound system for any music we want played. During the cocktail hour, we have to use the trio that's included in the Ultimate Pkg and then we could use the DJ (outside vendor) for the reception. Is that right? Why can't the DJ play our music for the ceremony? I also thought thought we would have to pay for the day pass for the DJ and photographer (if using outside vendor) and it was $90...what the heck?!?

Dj Bijan has dj'd at the resort before. i just sent him an email to verify if he has done a ceremony at the dreams tulum. ill let you girls know when i hear back from him! if so, that's bullshit, i dont think the same person is answering EVERY email because since when the resort "outside" vendor fee jump from 90-100?!

I hired DJ Bijan for our ceremony and reception so he will be playing both, I've learned to not ask them questions just tell them what you are doing, it works a lot easier.  Also when you go to pay that "vendor" fee double check your bill and pull out the guide.

Sadly every other dreams resorts allows for their brides to switch things in the package, I'm not sure why DT is so different but maybe if we collectively pull resources and contact someone things may change, who knows.

We also have DJ Bijan booked for ceremony and reception. I can't see the issue with ceremony as you don't HAVE to rent the sound system.... it is just an option. When I asked Aurora about outside DJ's I was told that we only had to pay the day pass fee, there was no 'outside vendor' cost mentioned. I am so excited about our wedding, and I just know that DT will be fabulous..... but these little discrepancies are really STRESSFUL!!!!

Thanks gals!  I'm just getting a bit frustrated with this! I want to get more information so I can have it for our invitations and so i can also update my "wed-site".  As much as I want them to provide me with more details - I don't think I should be asking them anymore questions.

VlynnW - I'll have to take your advise and just do it!!

This is so frustrating, Landy is the one who just told me I would have to pay a $100 vendor fee... I am so afraid of what fees they are going to throw in once we actually get there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
