The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

@vlynnw, thanks for posting that article. It will be convenient to have an airport in Tulum, however, I'm not sure how I feel about this ( quote from article):

"The Costa Maya, a 60-mile stretch of untouched paradise, along Mexico’s Caribbean coast, is now being developed into Mexico’s next big tourist destination."

At least the goal is to keep the new development sustainable and eco-friendly.

Thank you Beth! I checked the Olympus tours and they want $435 for all of us (there are actually 6 adults in our group, not 7). American Express quotes only $152 round trip. Was their van nice, comfortable and air conditioned? We have two small children, so it's important. It's such a big difference in price, seems strange.

Just make sure it is a private transfer. You dont want to be going to other resorts on your way with that large of a party. It will be annoying.
The van was perfect. Air conditioned and very comfortable

Great info, thanks. They do say it is private transportation.

I just got an email back from Aurora today about ceremony time and I'm kinda bummed. I had my heart set on a 5pm ceremony but she said 12, 2, and 4 are the only options. I'm booking a year 1/2 in advance and I can't have a 5pm ceremony. Does Dreams never offer a 5pm ceremony?

My ceremony was originally set for 5 but i changed it to 4. If you have it at 4will it really make that much of a difference?

What time were you hoping to start the reception? I believe most receptions start around 6-6:30pm (regardless of the time of ceremony) and end 4 hours later. Therefore receptions must end at 10-10:30pm.(for outdoor receptions)

Aurora agreed to extend my reception until 11pm

Don't forget the cocktail hour, that could be from 5:30-6:30pm....if you have the ceremony at 4pm, you'l have plenty of time for pics before the reception.

I personally think an hour earlier is better than an hour later....

I didn't want to start the reception until at least 7 simply because they only allot 3 hours for you and we were planning on extending until 11. I also was going to have the cocktail from 6-7. Now I'll do the 4pm ceremony and I guess have some lag time until the cocktail and reception time. I'm not worried about making sure there is time for pics since I intended on doing these during the cocktail hour anyway. I'm bringing my photog with me and she's pretty much at my disposal. I just have to decide if I want to start the reception a little earlier than intended or not. Thanks for your input, I think starting the cocktail hour just a little later will be the best solution and give guests some extra time to take care of things for the reception begins.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
