The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just thought of two questions:

Does anyone know if Dreams still does free room upgrades for the bride and groom (ex. from hacienda/deluxe garden view to dreams junior suite garden view)?? I've seen a lot of posts about this from 1-2 years ago, but in the wedding guide it doesn't say anything about this.

Also, in the wedding guide, it says for Dreams Ultimate or Dreams of Love, there is a honeymoon package - what is that?

Sorry for the questions, but I've tried emailing Aurora twice in the last 3 weeks, and she hasn't responded. Thanks for your help! :)

Hi Krista:

I think they only do room upgrades if they are available.

Also, I believe the honeymoon package is like turndown service: fruit basket, champagne and rose petals in your room.

thanks so much for posting your pictures! i had been trying to weigh the pros/cons of using an outside photographer vs the resort photographer. I am really pleased by the quality of the resort photographer! Your wedding looked so beautiful I hope you two had fun!

Strange, huh? I guess it's to encourage people to continue posting. I think I have to post 150 times before I can download documents. That means I hae like 147 more posts to go.....
That's right for attachments, but not links, anyone can access links. However, they did server upgrades, and all the links were changed.

I've updated the ones in my signature. Eventually I'd like to update all the ones on page 1, but that will take a while.

In the meantime, use the search function, and take advantage of the advanced search feature. So let's say you want to search for Blkatz's review, under advanced search you can search by username, then click the option "threads started by this user" and in the word search bar put "review" (not that if you don't click the "threads started by this user" option, then you'll get every thread for which Blkatz replied "great review" or "thanks for posting a review")

1. For a religious ceremony (not civil), how many days do we need to be down there prior to the wedding day?

2. Has anyone on here gotten married in the chapel? I know it's small, but how many people were you able to fit comfortably and did you enjoy the chapel?

3. Does Dreams Tulum handle finding the Catholic priest for our ceremony? Will he speak in English?

4. What specific decorations are included in that package for the reception (white linens, bows on the chair, etc.?)

5. If there are other weddings on my day, do I have to reserve the reception spot I want in advance?

6. Is early December a slow time at the resort? Iâ€ve heard some restaurants/bars are closed in slow times. Anyone have this experience?

7. What time do the bars/restaurants at DT close?

8. If the reception ends around 10 or so, any suggestions for post-party?

Thanks ladies. I really appreciate al your help.
I don't think these questions were answered yet...

For the reception, the only decorations included are white tablecloths, napkins and chair covers. If you had a flower arrangement on your ceremony table, they will move it to the head table.

Good post-party ideas are either the dance bar Desire Lounge (which is open late, I forget, maybe midnight or 1am?) or you can go for the outdoor Sugar Reef Bar which is also open pretty late and has plenty of seating (this would be for a more relaxed party atmosphere, Desire is for dancing).

Does anyone know what the deal is with rectangular tables vs. round for the reception? I love the rectangular table in some of the photos at the adult/relax pool and am wondering if we can request that, or if it's only for very small groups. We're expecting 25-30 guests.

I think it's such a nice variation on the traditional 8-10 person round table.

I remember somebody saying a long time ago that you can choose either rectangular or round.

I'm getting married at Dreams Tulum on April 6, 2010 (yay! cheesy.gif), and we were about to make our reservations today when I realized something. Our wedding is on a Tuesday, so we were going to fly in the previous Wednesday and have Thursday, Friday, and Monday count as our 3 business days prior to the wedding. However, Thursday, April 1st, is Maundy Thursday, and Friday, April 2nd, is Good Friday. I emailed Aurora a few minutes ago, but I wanted to see if anyone here might know. Will these days still count towards our 3 days, or do we have to get to Cancun even earlier (and miss even more work/school)? Help!

(oh, and hi! I've been reading this thread fairly regularly, but I think it's my first post in it, so it's nice to meet you all.)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
