The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Yes, most brides who had multiple weddings on their day have had no problems, StarlitK did, and I think another bride who got married a few days before or after her also mentioned a few issues (not quite to the extent of StarlitK but not perfect either).

It definitely is a risk you take with DT versus with other results, but in most cases it ends up not being a problem.

I think they did some server upgrades, and a lot of the links changed. You can find her review here or search the reviews for Tulum

Hi..I've had this problem too. I think it's because we're newer. Once you accumulate a certain amount of points, or posts, then you get access to other links, documents, etc.

Strange, huh? I guess it's to encourage people to continue posting. I think I have to post 150 times before I can download documents. That means I hae like 147 more posts to go.....

Hi ladies!

I am confirmed for Dec. 4, 2010!!! I am so excited!! I have a bunch of questions and I am going to just throw them out there. Thank you in advance for your help!!

1. For a religious ceremony (not civil), how many days do we need to be down there prior to the wedding day?

2. Has anyone on here gotten married in the chapel? I know it's small, but how many people were you able to fit comfortably and did you enjoy the chapel?

3. Does Dreams Tulum handle finding the Catholic priest for our ceremony? Will he speak in English?

4. What specific decorations are included in that package for the reception (white linens, bows on the chair, etc.?)

5. If there are other weddings on my day, do I have to reserve the reception spot I want in advance?

6. Is early December a slow time at the resort? I’ve heard some restaurants/bars are closed in slow times. Anyone have this experience?

7. What time do the bars/restaurants at DT close?

8. If the reception ends around 10 or so, any suggestions for post-party?

Thanks ladies. I really appreciate al your help.

I cant answer all your questions but I will try :)
You have to get there 3 days before your ceremony for the legal requirements.
I didnt get married in the chapel but we did look at it and I would say that it could hold about 40 people.
Your priest should speak English-the one we had did.
yes there are going to be other weddings on your day-a month before your date they will send you a form and you can tell them at that time where you want your ceremony and reception.
Early December should be quiet since most people dont go on winter vacation until end of December.

Hopefully I shed some light for you

There are tons of beautiful hotels in the area to choose from. I'd rather not have to stress over certain planning that can be taken care of prior to getting there since I'm sure I'll already be nervous enough.
I'm glad you found my review helpful. As Sunbride mentioned, most brides did not seem to report the type of issues that I encountered. Despite our issues, we still did have a beautiful wedding at DT. But, choosing the right resort is definitely a personal decision. Some brides wouldn't have minded the things that happened to us, and some would've thought they are unbearable - its just about knowing what you are looking for!

Good luck wherever you go!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
