The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I just received an email from Landy enclosing the 2010 wedding guide, I will try and attach it to this post.

Some of the prices have gone up for the extras which doesn't come as a surprise to me. However, one thing to note is that the guide now says that DT "performs two or three weddings a day". According to Landy's email to me she says this has been there practice for the past 2 years.

Sunbride, maybe you can have the new guide posted on page 1?

Angruck and Sunbride, great suggestions, two heads are better than one!

Sunbride do you think we should start this in another thread?

Suggestions on the following...

1. Start a thread asking past brides to state the issues they encountered, list the improvements that could have been made to improve their service and give their consent to supply their info to AM Resorts.

2.We could also have future brides list their concerns.

3. We could have everyone sign a petition for AM resorts to uphold the stated two weddings per day.

Not too savvy at this I.T stuff would it be best to do this as a poll format?

Would we even do it on here. I thought so cos its where a big percentage of the DT brides would be able to get involved but then is it possible to copy and paste it into the Dreams site or into an email format? Also by doing it here is it poss we might cause probs for Forum?

I really feel we ought to do something but not sure im the best person to lead this little crusade due to my limited I.T knowledge, not passing the buck, just not sure i'd get things done right. I'd be more than willing to help and give full support to someone who knows the best way to get this stuff done?

Otherwise I will try to get the ball rolling if no-one else wants to take it on.

Just a note for brides that have not encountered probs and think that this is all a bit OTT or doesnt require them to get involved. I really dont intend to make life hard or reflect badly on the already overworked WC's and DT team whom im sure do their absolute best within the timeframe they have. I just feel that as prospective customers we have a right to question standards and discrepencies and attempt to improve the situation BEFORE we spend our hard earned money. However we wouldnt be able to do this without the help, reviews, input and support from ALL our brides.

ALL help and suggestions on this matter would be really appreciated. smile03.gif

Thanks so much for posting the new guide, I have been wondering about it. I will post it on page 1 and read all the info and update everything on page 1. Hopefully I can find the time to do that this weekend.

Well I think it's still okay to complain that 3 weddings a day is too much, and to ask that at minimum, they do everything possible to keep the events seperate (i.e. scheduling the ceremonies at different times and locations, etc)

Michelle, unfortunately I am also not IT savvy so I can't head up this task otherwise I would. I will be very active in it though if anyone wants to help out with the technology part.

I think we should create the forum for reviews---that would be extremely helpful. Let me know how I can help other than IT items :)

Just had a read through of the guide, and first all I notice a lot more information and detail (although I still think they could explain the reception stuff better if they clearly stated the policies for each location individually)

A few of the changes I notice:

• Guests are required to use our on-site photographer/videographer. Samples

of their work can be accessed by contacting weddings@ilgruppodigitale.

com. Guests must inform wedding coordinator if they choose to bring

their own photographer/videographer an additional fee will apply.

Hum, this is a big one, I wonder if it's just a day pass or if they will make you pay a higher fee. The wording "required to use" is definitely a huge departure from the old policy. Very disappointing.

For the day pass, the cost clarifies the questions we've been having as half day used to mean lunch and supper (no breakfast) but now half day means breakfast and lunch (no dinner) so you have to buy a full day pass for vendors who will be eating dinner at your reception.

You now need your birth certificates in addition to your passports (notarized and translated only if divorced)

I had emailed Natalia about having my own photographer, she said that I would be required to pay for the day pass, however, since I have a TTD session the day after my wedding, I actually booked my photographer a room so they are considered a guest and I do not need to pay any additional fees.

Hi everyone, I just got back from DT on Sunday July 6th. We had a great two weeks there! I will be posting a review, will try to do this weekend but ideally was waiting until my pro photos came in. We had a few minor glitches (and I mean really REALLY minor) and were overall very pleased with the wedding and the entire experience. I am really sorry to hear that not everyone had the same experience as we did. I am wondering if the size of the wedding increases the possibility of issues? We were only 13 (including a 1 year old baby) and our 2 photographers (as a side note - I'm sad to see that there is a change in the 2010 guide RE:outside photographers, we LOVED them!)...

I'll do my best to write my review ASAP!!!

Chantal

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
