Now this was before the swine flu pandemic so it had no role on the price.

Out of curiosity, how much are your TA'S quoteshuh.gif My guests will definately not want to attend at close to $3000 a person.....

I'm so confused......

We paid $1405 taxes included last June when we booked for our wedding in April. We flew Sunwing out of Toronto. If you want to PM me I can send you my TA contact info, she works for Bel Air Travel in Toronto. You were definitely quoted crazy high prices!!!!!

!
That's weird, I emailed Natalia where I would like to have my reception and she sent me back a confirmation of the location. My wedding is on July 29, 2009 about 10 weeks from now so I dont why they would be telling other brides that they cant reserve locations until three weeks before the wedding when I got my location reserved

I am not sure if this is the same thing.. but I filled out paper work from Dreams regarding the wedding, location, and reception back in Feb. 09. My TA called me yesterday and mentioned that the WC (natalia, i believe) would be emailing me next week so that we can go over where I want to have the reception, wedding location, etc. So, not sure if I should even really give much weight to this.. but I will ask the TA and WC how likely this is to change, as the wedding date is 1 yr away.

Did any of you have ppl stay off the resort and come in for your wedding and other festivities? I have 2 friends who are hell-bent on going through vrbo.com to save $$ (I don't think they will when you tally up food/drinks, etc.). Did you have to pay the $55 a day guest fee? I know there aren't wristbands or anything... I don't want to "sneak" them on but I'm wondering if anyone would notice?

I have a couple of questions, did anyone use the resort DJ? We were originally just going to use an ipod but now we are thinking of having a DJ. if you did, how many hours did you reserve them and how was the resort DJ?

Also, I plan on having mariachis---should i have them play for the cocktail hour or for the first hour during dinner?

From what I saw when I was there they probably could get sneaked on. They just have to give their room number, they could give one of your guests' room number. However it is a chance they are taking and they could get caught and could get in trouble. Is it really worth the risk?

The reason I say I think it's possible is because when we'd leave the resort as a group of 4, we'd have to give a room number, well even if the 4 of us were in different rooms then we'd give only 1 room number. Then when we came back maybe we were in different cabs with other people, we'd still give only 1 room number, not necessarily the same one, so it didn't match up.

Alternatively, if they say they are coming for the wedding (and admit to being off resort guests) the guards may assume that the bride has paid for the day passes? For example, when some people hired an outside photographer and an assistant photographer showed up unexpectedly, they said they only ended up paying for 1 day pass (coordinators probably never thought to charge them for the 2nd one).

I don't understand this: I asked about 6 months ago to confirm it, and they said "we can't until 1 month before" and when I asked again 3 months later, they reiterated the same thing. So frustrating that they seem to lack consistency, with this and with prices for certain add-ons. I'm getting really frustrated :-(

I had family members attend the wedding who stayed at another resort. My dad paid for their passes. You won't be able to sneak them in. There is a guard at the gate and every cab/shuttle/car etc that comes through the gate has to register wtih that guard, he takes down the room number and/or name is your staying off site and radios to the front desk. This is not a hassle you want to deal with on your wedding day! Also, I would double check on the pricing of the passes I seem to remember them beign more expensive then we had planned on, they may have went up. My advice is don't try and beat the system it wouldn't be worth it. The guests do not have to wear wristbands when they come in.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
