You will of course have to pay for the meals for the guests. If you are using the silver menu it will be 40x55$ or the gold menu 40x65$. If you want to just use the regular restaurant menu it would be 40x20$.

If they charge you the 750$ for the private reception, it would be in addition to the meal charge. But I would expect they won't charge you it, I think it's purely to close the restaurants.
Thanks for your replies! I will double check with my WC first, but I'm thinking it may be our best bet to just upgrade to the Dreams of Love package if they charge the $750 for anything other than the World Cafe.

Hello all! There is soooo much information on this site, so great! I do have one question for those who have gotten married in the Mayan Riviera. I plan on shipping a large tote with welcome bags, starfish, seashells, favors, etc. Are there any restrictions from customs on what can and cannot be shipped into Mexico?

Here is what I plan on sending:

(50) welcome bags:

toothbrushes

toothpaste

mouthwash

advil packs

mini sunblock

lip balm

water

chips/snacks

50 starfish

50 sanddollars

tulle for back of seat covers

Should I be concerned with supplies getting held up in customs?

Thanks!

Gina

I don't know the exact restrictions, but I know that I read somewhere on the forum several months ago of a bride who was going to be charged a ridiculous amount of customs, so high that it made more sense to just abandon the items (so she lost what she paid for them and also what she paid to have them shipped).

Most brides around here strongly advise against advance shipping items, it's better to just pay extra for an extra suitcase.

Maybe somebody else can offer more specific info.

Hi Girls! SO excited to be here - I've been lurking for almost a whole year!! You are all wonderful and have awesome information to share. It's so much appreciated!

I do have a question, though =)

I need to find a DJ/MC for the reception. I looked into DJ Bob (who I found in the vendor reviews page), but he's booked. I also looked into DJ Mannia who is just too darn expensive.

Any other recommendations?

BTW: Sunbride, you are the best! So helpful! You're like the DT guru! And your photographs are BEAUTIFUL!

Wow, your wedding is less than a month away! You should have stopped lurking sooner!!! Makes me wonder how many brides we really have on this thread since I would guess that for every bride who has said hello, there are probably at least a few who haven't, so we probably really have several hundreds, maybe even a thousand brides on here!

Anyways, good luck with the last minute planning.

Hi girls,

Big thanks to Sunbride for all of your hard work. smile03.gif

This forum has been a huge help to me, im quite sure I would have given up on this whole idea of a destination wedding so far from home ( im a british bride 2 B) without all your fab tips and reassuring reveiws!

Cant wait to read the 2009 girls reveiws, keep posting.

Here's my info

Username: northernflasher

Names: Michelle and David

Date and Time of ceremony:26th March 2010 at 4pm

Number of guests: 11 definites

Co-ordinator: Had brief, unfathomble emails from several so im not sure!

Ceremony type:Legal, hopefully with some personal added extras such as readings and our own additional vows.

Ceremony location:Chapel

Cocktail hour: undecided

Reception location: Approx 6pm. Originally wanted the beach but massage hut looks good for our party size and a few people have commented on the beach getting cold and windy after sunset which has put me off quite a bit.

Package: Trying to persuade H2B to go for the ultimate.

Photographer: Resort, plus Myself, H2B and H2B's father are all professional photogs!

Videographer:Resort (if we go for ultimate package)

Extras: I love the idea of a Bonfire on the beach and poss fire dancers (budget allowing!)

Hope this is all you need.

Many Thanks

Hi! To all of the recent brides,

how did you find it getting married on days when there are multiple weddings? Did you feel like you were constantly running into other brides? Was it a turn off to see so many weddings during your vacation? Also, if music has to end at 10:30.. what did you do after (and did you find that having a 3pm ceremony gave you enough time for dinner and dancing?). What time does the s un set in early january?

Thanks so much ladies!! :)

I sent similair items. Paid 245 dollars to send- it got to Mexico and would not clear customs- I had to pay another 215 to send back. They opened it up and since items were from China, India they said I woud have to pay taxes on it. $1400.00 in taxes. I suggest you put it all in a suitcase. If your wanting your guests to have the stuff before they arrive do what I did. I just sent each guest their bag by fed ex and they brought all their goodies along.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
