The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...I am new to Dreams, decided a few weeks ago to switch resorts. I was at Azul Sensatori, but I was not getting responses from the WC even after the president of my TA office called. I have heard so many wonderful things about Dreams and I can not wait.

Lindz we are both getting married on the 23rd of June, what time is your wedding?

Lauren,

Where did you find the earrings that your bridesmaids wore? I have been looking for something for my bridesmaids and since we have the same dresses those would work out perfectly. Were the colors pretty similar?

Your pictures are beautiful! Congratulations!

I had the earrings custom made by msbelle on etsy.com (you can do a search for sellers and find her shop). She makes beautiful jewelry and she's an honest business woman--so she won't rip you off. I'm sure she would make them for you, too! The aqua quartz was just a touch lighter than the dress, which I liked. But she would custom make anything you ask for, show you pictures, and modify them for you. She's great to work with!

Thanks for the compliments! :)

I'm sure anywhere we end up having the reception will be great! My family is starting to have problems getting the cheapest rooms.....but our travel agent is awesome and is getting them an upgrade for the same price :o) I just hope the hotel doesn't fill up...cause some of our friends are procrastinators and won't book until the last minute...LOL

OK ... DT brides ... I need your help and your opinions wink.gif

We are trying to put together a wedding at DT on short notice (this June) and our TA has been in contact with Anabel and she gave a short list of available dates and times. The first date (June 1st) won't work because kids aren't out of school yet ... the others were Mondays and Tuesdays.

I would prefer a Monday (if it can't be a Friday my 1st choice) but all she said was 12:00 noon.

For some reason I don't really want to be married at noon because it seems like we should go directly to "lunch" after that ... and that's not what I want. We want to be able to go off and do our photos and such and then meet back up with our guests to eat and do reception.

I have no idea if Dreams will allow us to change the time ... but if they would I was thinking maybe 10:00 a.m. and send out guests to champagne and pastries (or something along those lines) we go get pics ... and then meet everyone back in the evening for the "reception" and dinner.

I just don't know if that breaks up the day too much ... I suppose we could do lunch right after ... and "reception" and then go take pics ... it's just not what I pictured. I picture dinner and reception in the evening and having fun drinking and lights and such *sigh*

As said I have no idea if they'll even entertain the idea of time change ... and I haven't read about anyone on here getting married in the morning (or noon for that matter) ... so if you know anything or have done so or can provide some feedback ... I would appreciate it sooooo much. Then if we break up the day like that ... it might cost more for a photographer too! Maybe we could do a trash the dress session inbetween that time (instead of the next day) and just plan on getting hair touched up or redone before going to reception/dinner?

Help! I'm trying not to get down in the dumps ... I just LOVE DT from everything I've seen ... and I don't want to "force" this decision and then be miserable.

Should I ask for an earlier time? Go for the noon option? Any feedback on sun location and heat for that time frame? Look at other venues? Thanks!!!!!! *huGs* Suzanne

I would recommend calling the coordinators and getting more clarification about the times they have available. Just because they said noon doesn't mean they only have noon available. It might just be their suggestion.

I know I asked for approx 4pm, and they gave me 5pm, and I was a bit disappointed that it would be a bit too late for photos. When I asked again to double check 4pm wasn't available, it was, it's just that since I said "approx" 4pm, they were suggesting 5pm as they think sunset ceremonies are nice.

(A few weeks later I wanted to change to 3pm because I learned that my wedding was just before daylight savings time started, but they didn't have 3pm available (this they were clear on, the judge was not available). But when I arrived at the resort they checked with the judge again and they were able to move it up to 3pm!)

So all this to say that you have to be very clear with them when requesting times, sometimes they will give the impression that only one time slot was available when really they are just recommending that time slot.

Perhaps the best way to ask the question would be to say something like "I don't want to get married at noon, what are the other times in the day that are available, earlier or later?" When they get back to you and mention something like "10am" I would double check "so 10am and noon are my only choices, there is nothing else available at any other time of the day"? It seems annoying and redundent, but based on my frustration with setting a time, I would make sure it really is what they have available rather than their suggestion.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
