I'm also wondering about this...one of my FI's aunts is already telling us that we should choose a different location which i really don't want to do. I have heard that most of the violence is around the Texas border, but i think a few things have happened in Cancun also. I guess we just need to stay up to date with the news.

For the girls getting married soon, please let us know on your return what it's like right now, meaning are there more police/military or any noticeable problems. Thanks!!!

The weather at the resport was beautiful and sunny everyday we were there and they still provided spa discounts in the daily activity sheet they provided to us each night at turn down. I purchased couples massages for all my guests but everyone also took advantages of the spa discounts and got mani/pedi for 60.00 as well as facial for 75.00. The spa is super nice!

Also I read here that someone is concerned about the crime. I will tell you that while we were there we felt really safe. BUT.. Someone who stayed in a room above my mother had someone climb up to their balcony and steal from their room. The hotel takes it very seriously but they do not replace the items. If you leave things out in your room they believe should go into the safe they call the Manager who itemizes everything in your room and leaves a note indicating you should use your safe.

I am trying to upload the photos of the resport and ceremony here and i keep getting invalid file? any suggestions?

There are several threads about the mexico security issue. It would probably be best to discuss them there rather than have that take over this thread which is specially about Dreams Tulum.

You can't post your photos as attachments, it takes up too much of the forum's bandwidth (or whatever it is that keeps this thing running)

You need to create an account with photobucket. It's super easy to use. You upload your photos, and then you copy the link (the 3rd one at the bottom of each photo) into your message here and voila, photo appears!

Here is a thread about it

Alternatively, you can use any other online photo album, and just provide us with the link (as well as username and password if necessary, depending on which one you use).

Personally, i used photobucket to post like 20 of my favorites, and then I provided a link to a Picasa Web Album (no username or password required) so that people could see all my photos.

receptions usually end at 10:30 (one bride was allowed to go to 11pm) as that is the time music has to end at (so as to not bother the resort guests).

If your ceremony is at 5pm you are probalby doing dinner at 6 or 7 right? So probably about 2 hours for dinner and then 2 hours for dancing or something like that? It depends what you "do" at your reception. Some people have speeches or other activities going on.

Let me know if you have trouble seeing
I'm happy you were able to figure out how to upload them! Your set-up looks beautiful, I love the bright pink. Do you have wedding photos taken by the photographer to share? You know that's what the brides want to see the most as they love seeing the work of the resort photographer. It's good that you were able to get his name (Reuben, for anyone who missed it in the photo captions) because it confirms for us that there are at least 3 different photographers (Reuben, Philemon and Andrea)

We were married at 4:30pm- perfect time. The sun was setting but we had plenty of light for pictures. We used the resort photographer with the Ultimate Wedding Package. We booked the wedding in 2008 but were given the 2008-09 prices- BUT we were not charged the extra 10 % and 15 % taxes. The only extras we were charged for were for 3 kids meals- $20.00 each. $15.00 for hair flower and $80.00 to hang the paper lanterns.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
