lydiag - I am also still deciding if I should have a catholic wedding. From what I understand, a catholic wedding will only be performed in the chapel. You will need to contact your local parish and tell the priest that you will be marrying in Mexico and you will need to be granted permission to marry outside of your parish by the priest or the bishop. You also need to take any marriage classes that are necessary at your local parish. That parish must send a letter to the priest in Mexico (which by the way, I am not sure if anyone at the hotel can help you find a priest) letting them know that you took the course and are ready to be married. Also, I think I saw somewhere that if you have a catholic wedding it will be performed in spanish not english.

 

On the other hand, if you bring your own priest, I am not sure if some of the things above apply.

 

Also, religious weddings are not legal in Mexico so it may be better to get married by a JOP at home before heading down which is what a lot of us are doing.

Hey ladies,

I know how picture hungry everyone is so you can find our pics at Craig Wolfrom :: Wedding Photography :: Idaho, California, Mexico, and Beyond We had our photographer with us for three days so I don't have other pics to share yet. We had our reception on the beach in front of the massage hut. Our band set up on the massage hut platform, it worked perfect! I guess they double booked El Patio for a reception and just asked if I was interested in moving to the beach since we had a large group and large band. It was twenty times better than I could imagine!!! They're very good at their jobs! Not a single complaint about the hotel, just perfect. No one minded the trek once they arrived and saw the beach!! I'll work on a formal review soon. No worries for the future brides, it was perfect!

ok Amy one more question!! Promise! I was wondering if you brought the isle runner down or if they had it at the resort? I was so sure I wanted to walk down in the sand but after seeing your pictures I kinda really like it. So I was just wondering. Thanks!

I can answer this one for you...The aisle runner is the resort's, I have seen it used in several other weddings.

 

Which reminds me of something I noticed in Amy's pics. They put the aisle leading from the seaside grill. So in her pictures of everyone walking down the aisle you see the seaside grill (and some employees) in the background.

 

I can tell from one of the pictures Neen posted so far that they did the same for her too.

 

For my wedding, they had the aisle angled just slightly more towards the back rather than to the side. While I was waiting for my turn I was still hiding behind the Seaside Grill, so for the first picture you can see the edge of the restaurant, but after that the aisle kinda angled to the left so that it was directly behind the gazebo, so for the rest of the walk to the gazebo the only thing in the background of the pictures is one of the buildings.

 

Anyways, just a small detail for those of you who are extra detail oriented. You may want to ask them to put the aisle more to the back of the gazebo rather than diagonally towards the seaside grill if you want to avoid that background.

 

I didn't ask for mine to be done any specific way, that was just the way they did it (and the way I had seen it done for weddings preceding mine) so I wonder why it is that they've changed it a bit since then...

That's a very good point, Sunbride. I wish i knew that before. Dont love that the SSG is in the background when everyone is walking down the aisle.

 

Yes, teh aisle runner was theres. I hadnt even thought about it; i was planning on the sand. But Landy mentioned it and at the last minute I decided to use it. they didn't charge me anything extra for this.

Thanks so much jerzygirl85 I've actually already been to my priest and he's given me the form to have the priest down in mexico fill out acknowledging that they will be performing the ceremony - my dilemma is that I can't take my marriage prep course before the priest down in mexico signs off on it and I'm due to start my class in mid March (I need to find a priest QUICK). I honestly would have no idea how to find a priest down there and hoping that the DT wedding coordinators can help out - wish me luck

Just wondering how long it took to hear back from the WC? I faxed it my paperwork on Friday afternoon and still haven't received a confirmation. I'm gettin a bit worried. I even called yesterday and left a message.

I submitted my paperwork/deposit on a Monday and received confirmation late Thursday that same week. You might need to wait a few business days. I felt the same way you did about it. Hope that helps.
