wow 3 weddings in one day?!

How far in advance did everyone choose their ceremony/reception spots? Considering that they are booking 3 weddings a day makes me think that I need to let Natalia and/or Anabel know which locations I want asap or someone else might book it before me....i think i may have just sounded a bit bridezilla-ish hehehehe

I am surprised they booked 3 weddings in one day. I would be a little concerned, but in all of my correspondence with Landy and the rest there, they assure me that there will not be any problems with what I want. Ususally they do the weddings at different times so they don't overlap. For instance, my ceremony is at 3pm and there is another one at 5 or 6pm. I have confidence that it will all work out for you.

Not that there's anything I can do about it, but I just thought I'd share a little piece of information I recently learned. I emailed Anabel to ask her about occupancy rates last May (i.e. what was the likelihood that the resort is going to be less than 70% occupied the first week of May since we're hoping to have our reception at the Seaside Grill) and she wrote me back this reply:

"About you request for the seaside grill you are right is depends the occupation in the resort; may Is a very busy month in the resort. We confirm the locations 3 week before to the wedding but I have you request. We have 2 wedding more that day but if the occupation is less than 70% we can confirm you the seaside grill, but only one month before to the wedding."

I'm trying not to get too bothered by the fact that there are THREE weddings on May 7th. I was originally told there was one other wedding on May 7th, so I guess they've booked another. I could complain, but it's not like they're going to cancel someone's wedding. Would it bother any of you or am I getting a little bridezilla-ish? Oh well, I've asked for the wedding arch at the Seaside Grill for 5 pm (confirmed) and the Seaside Grill for my reception (we'll see). I guess I should just come up with some other options for my reception in case I can't get it. I don't want to be in the ballroom, but we have 52 people so I'm not really sure what the next best option is. Sorry for being grumpy! censored.gif

Hello Ladies,

I'm kind of a new member...almost a year ago I joined this group planning my destination wedding. When we looked at the costs we decided to got with an outside planner and get married further down the beach at a private beach club. It turns out now that the prices for 2009 have skyrocketed and we are hopefully back on board with Dreams Tulum. I have received an email from Natalia indicating that our date and time are available. Have you guys spoke with Natalia...just curious who she is?

Anywho my one dilenma is a photographer....I don't really want to use the resort one...can anyone recommend a good photographer from the area that won't break the bank!!

Thanks so much....I'm trying to get caught up on the new thread...Sunbride you've done and awesome job!!!

Hi Denise, welcome back. Do a search in the mayan riviera sub forum and you will find TONS of info on local photographers. My personal favorite is Claudia Photo, her whole team is awesome. Her price is approx 2000$ giver or take a few hundred depending on number of hours. But there are a ton of other great photographers too. And many of us bring photographers from back home because sometimes it's a better value if you can find somebody who charges a reasonable price and since they will be there all day for the wedding and also take other event photos (in my case trip pictures during the vacation and a TTD). It's an even better value if you can split the outside photographer with another bride getting married at the same time as you (either at DT or even another resort in the mayan riviera).

good luck with your planning.

Thanks girls - I'm sure 3 weddings in one day won't be terrible. There's nothing I can really do about it and they definitely seem like professionals at Dreams Tulum so I'm sure everything will be fine. I think a beach wedding would be a really nice alternative, or maybe El Patio but I think it's subject to the same "70% occupancy or less" policy. For the girls getting married in May (I know there are quite a few of us!), where are you hoping to have your receptions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
