The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

I know with all the planning and lil extras Janine is gonna have a fabulous wedding!

We booked in May 2008 for our wedding in March 2009 and managed to find an amazing deal of $1399+$299 taxes. This is a group rate with Sunwing, so 10+ people. We booked before the travel brochures were published for our travel season, so you could most likely do the same and save a lot of cash. I know Stephanie said this price was amazing. If you want any additional info, feel free to PM me.

Happy planning!

I might have asked this before - but can anybody tell me how much your guests had to pay for their trips? ours will be leaving from Toronto mostly.. but any quotes would be good! The best we have is 1775 pp.. we are hoping to find something slightly cheaper (planning to get married in Jan 2010), but not sure if that is a totally rediculous hope!~

thanks!! :)

Hey there - We booked our trip with an Air Canada Vacations travel agent here in Ottawa and our guests are paying $1726 - taxes in - from Ottawa (and slightly cheaper from Toronto - one less connection) for the first week of May 2009. If we had picked March 2009, we would have paid closer to $1800 so I don' t think your quote is bad. Funny thing now, last minute deals are starting to creap up. We just had 4 family members book through selloffvacations.com for ~$1500.

Good luck!

I am hoping to get my planning thread done tomorrow...although I haven't a CLUE how to go about it!! Our flight leaves Tuesday morning, but we leave Monday night at 10 p.m. to stay overnight near the airport. I can't believe it's here already!

I want to thank you, Sunbride, and everyone else (in advance) for the wealth of knowledge provided on this forum. It has helped tremendously; I honestly don't think I would have gotten nearly as much planning done if it weren't for being a part of this!

Hi there...we are also leaving from Toronto and booked back in September 2008 for April 2009. I got a group rate with SunWing for $1259 + $267 tax. I also spoke with multiple travel agents to get the best price and toggled back and forth asking who could beat the price of the other one. I found that itravel2000.com was pretty competitive and at that time we could have taken advantage of the "Let it Snow" promotion. We actually went with Red Tag Vacations only because they gave us the cheapest price. If we had gone with itravel, our guests from Halifax would actually be travelling for free in April - they were the winners of the promotion sad.gif.

I would wait a few months for prices to go down before booking for January 2010. You will also get to take advantage of an early booking bonus and be able to watch the prices go down if you wait a bit. In the current economic climate, I believe less people will be travelling and you'll be able to save some money when the price drops.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
