Omg, it is amazing to be able to start getting excited about the wedding again! No more moping. Now there is so much to do in the next couple of weeks :) To get the discussion rolling...what do you guys plan to do for a welcome dinner? Anything?

I believe the first one (at least on this forum) is 'sisterofthebrideerica' on the 22nd.
And well, I can give you a full review ( and my leftover stuff ) in person!
For the first time in a looooong time, I am actually super excited about my wedding! pinkie.gif

callie - we are planning a cocktail party on the lobby terrace with light refreshments and drinks as a welcome event - we are going to hand out all of our OOT/welcome gifts at this time and play music with a mexico theme (which means a lot of country music because those are mostly the songs that mention mexico :)).

We were planning to have the rehearsal dinner in the buffet at 8pm the night before our wedding, but I'm somehow finding more money in my budget than I originally planned (because none of my friends are coming) so I'm now thinking we may rent out an entire restuarant for a more reasonable time like 6pm. I need to check this with Landy though as I'm not sure its possible anymore...we could always do it in one of the ballrooms but that seems weird to me - too formal. Maybe we'll just do it on the beach...that might be nice.

Don't mind me, i'm just so excited that DT is for sure and i can picture everything in my head again that i'm going crazy with possibilities :)

yay! we can get back on track now! wow! what a long time coming--over a month! i can hardly believe it is real--in fact, i am worried that i will wake up tomorrow and it will be closed again. yes, sorry, I won't be giving a review until march '09 now. i think priscillas of boston has some good bridesamaid dresses--that company carries Melissa Sweet, right? (One of my faves.)

Yea, I would agree with Chandra about Priscilla of Boston for wonderful bridesmaids dresses! They carry the Melissa Sweet line, which is where I got my bridesmaids dresses--and where another bride (sdtooley?) is wanting to get hers (the same one as me! :) we must have the same taste in clothing). She posted a pic of the dress a couple of pages back. They carry two other lines as well: Vineyard (which is the least expensive of the 3 lines) and the actual Priscilla of Boston line of dresses (the most expensive). Melissa Sweet falls in the middle, yet they are still more pricey than dresses from your average bridal shop. All of the dresses are gorgeous!

We are doing a welcome cocktail type thing instead of a dinner. We have 87 people total so it was more reasonable for us. We are putting some tables with simple apps (chicken wings, chips and guac/salsa) in front of the Cenote and using the bar that is right there for drinks. This is where my sister and her FI plan to hand out their gifts to wedding party etc...Just an FYI they charged us $10pp for this. I have no idea if this is a set in stone price.

That is so great to hear. My sister actually called me this morning and said she woke up feeling excited about her wedding (finally) again!! That was music to my ears.

I feel like there is so much to do now. I am contacting Nancy to book our ATV trip and my sister is working on a SCUBA trip too. We want to make out salon appts. too. I am hoping people are there checking email etc. even if people are not checking in yet...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
