The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

why was everything from our DT thread moved over to a new threadhuh.gif? I understand they want to put all the talk about the closure in one place, but still, I think all DT brides are very attached to this thread and if they want to post here rather than in another thread they should be able to. There is a difference between DT brides discussing it here and with everyone discussing it on a seperate thread. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who feels this way (since I am quite attached to my thread!)

Hi ladies. I wanted to post a quick update. I am getting married next month. I have 140 guests booked and I was totally stressing because I was not getting much response from Landy. We decided to take a short trip to check the place out since I was freaking out that nothing would get done in time.

I know everyone on here warned that the wedding coordinators were not responsive but in the end they pull off a great wedding... IT IS SO TRUE. We saw two weddings while we were there.

We met with Landy - she was so nice - and very helpful. She was way more organized then I expected. She had a binder filled with info for my wedding.

The place was gorgeous! Better than we expected! We are so excited...

Hope this eases some of your minds!

I really hope Landy is as organized as you say! I am getting married in May 27 09 I have a TA who has been great with getting all the paperwork and everything together but! As I was on here reading as everyone else I got a bit worried about the deposit because I thought my day was locked in stone but I never paid and we booked back in June. So am I booked under the old or new?? Because now that I have brought it up she wants a deposit. So I sent my TA an email telling her my concern about me being confirmed and this deposit thing. Also in the guide it states you and your witness must be there four business days before the wedding well we will only be there 3 and Landy has written emails saying this is ok but when Landy recently responded she wrote something else in the email!! Completely different from what I have been told and reassured of. Everything has been soo inconsistent and it has me a bit worried and I'm a pretty laid back person! I know they say a lot of things and end up doing something different from what I have read on other posts but wow a little consistancy would be nice!

Yeah, unfortunetly they don't keep track of what they tell you, they can't look up a person's file each time they are responding to an email, so they forget what they told you before. They are getting emails from probably about 500 brides right now (all the brides for the next year or two) so they can't possibly keep it straight - so when they make exceptions they forget and contradict that in the next email. Just save your emails as proof for when you meet them.

As an example, I got an email a few weeks AFTER I got married answering some of my questions! I was a little surprised she didn't remember me, but then again, there are so many brides.

Jennyatk, about the witnesses thing: I had the same concern a while back and was told not to worry because they would use someone from the resort if need be. So don't worry about that part!

To everyone, I'm not sure how many posts there have been in regards to what happened at the resort that led to its closing, but I spoke to my TA this week and she clarified to me what had happened:

"There was an inspection on Sep. 25 and one of the buildings (did not say which one but not the rooms—must have been a meeting room or restaurant or something) was zoned for a certain number of occupants but had more than allowed at the time of the inspection. Another article says that they had a permit to build more rooms in the next year or so and the plans were for more people than the zoning allowed. Sounds like a little disagreement between local and federal govt. in Mexico and should be resolved soon! Once the lawyers resolve it (or pay someone off—haha!) then will be back open and set to go!"

Well, I know this does not comfort anyone getting married this weekend or for the next week or so, but for all of us with dates in the later part of the year, we can be a little more confident that things will work out. Again, all my positive thoughts to Trish, Brooke, and Anna. We're cheering you girls on to make the best of a horrible situation!!

Thanks Stephanie!

As for the closing thing...well.....so far people SOUND confident it will be reopened by Monday...this including Sandra/Tammy...so although I'm not NOT worried...I am just going with the fact I AM getting married at DT next Friday..and well if we are told Monday (we will already BE in Mexico..just don't know where ) that it is NOT reopening then we will notify guests and figure SOMETHING out...

I've been praying and working on staying calm. We are going to notify our guest before we leave if we do not hear anything that there is a possibility we will not be there, but that everythign is taken care of.

Just keep on saying the prayers ladies...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
