The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies...I'm putting together my invitations (yay!) and I need to include a "reception" card with travel agent info and our wedding website. On the other side of the card, I want to include a little map showing the location of cancun, the airport, and tulum so people can get an idea of where they'll be. I can't find a simple map that i can cut and paste, but thought one of you might have one...

Hey guys! Okay so we finally booked a week to go down to Mexico and scout locations for the wedding. We're almost positive we want to have it at Dreams Tulum, but we both felt we had to go there ourselves first to make sure! Just wondering if anyone is getting married there this month from September 27th-October 1st, b/c I think it would be great to see what it looks like set up! Thanks!

Hi, Neen. I had the same problem when I was sending my "tag the dates" out. But I finally found a very simple map to include...I ended up making a little collage on cardstock with some pictures from the resort, a picture of my fiance and I, and that simple map just to give my guests a general idea of where they'd be traveling in relation to Cancun. I couldn't find a map that I liked that showed the Cancun airport AND Tulum. But I did find a more generalized map. Since I don't know how to attach pics right now, I'll just post the links to the pages:

Map pic that I didn't like: http://www.lasvillasakumal.com/images/mapa.gif

Map pic that I ended up using: http://www.galleryre-cancun.com/images/map_mexico.jpg

I hope these links work and that it was a bit helpful!

HI Ladies,

My FI and I are interested in releasing butterflies or doves during our ceremony. After many responses from both Sandra and Landy saying "let me check" I finally got a link and emailed the vendor. She sent me this attachment with pricing (which is not exactly crystal clear to me but I thought I'd send if anyone else is interested). It won't let me attach for some reason even though i dont think its too big? frown: Anyway PM if you're interested. Or visit the website: ImagoAP - Mariposas

I got married on the beach - barefoot. I brought down low sandles and flip flops. I only wore the sandles to get from the ceremony to the coctail hour and then back to the reception (I'm not even sure I wore them at this time either). But I never wore anything at my reception. Our reception was at the Seaside Grill.

Maybe it's not that noticeable that these weddings whip through there and take over? My wedding will be on a Monday, and I'm worried about seeing all these weddings (especially that the weekend prior is all booked) and feeling like my special day is one of many you will see in a one week stay. But I guess maybe it comes with the territory, I'm finding a lot of hotels in the area have multiple weddings per day and I really like the affordability of this resort. Can anybody calm my only concernhuh.gif? (... and sorry, I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, I've already checked my wedd. date avail. with Landy/Lizette, so I'm super interested in this resort)... thanks!!
When I was there, there was almost 2 weddings per day. No one pays attention to any of the weddings, except if you are attending one. It's not like everyone at the resort watches, and then they won't watch your wedding because they saw so many others. Is that what you are asking? But don't worry about your day not feeling special. You will have your group focused on you and your husband and it will be wonderful. The day of my wedding, there was another wedding, and I only saw the bride at the spa in the morning. Other than that, we never saw them.

During the week you will most definitely meet some of the other brides/grooms, etc. and it was fun to take a peek at their weddings. I changed my flowers once I saw another bride with her flowers.

And, what time does the disco close (or any other night life for that matter). What is there to do there around the evenings after dinner? How late do the bars stay open? Can you go on the beach after dark? I guess I'm wondering if the resort is like dead at night. Thanks.
I never saw any wave runners at this resort. I don't know if any other places nearby have them.

At night they have different shows, which I am not sure get a good crwod because I never went. One night the had a party on the beach with music and it was a blast. They also do movies in the beach at night for the kids.

I am not sure what time the disco closes, but they start the music, etc. around 10-10:30 so I would assume it satys open late, or maybe as long as there are people there.

There is an ipod dock in each room. If you bring your own batteries (likely C or Ds) you could take it out of the room and use it. But since it’s just one small speaker it wouldn’t be that great for a reception.

You can rent the hotel’s large speaker. For the ceremony it’s free and for the reception it’s 150$ (this info is on page 1 of this thread). I know they can play CDs on this speaker (as that is what I did) and I think other ladies have connected their ipod to this but I’m not 100% sure.

Many other brides have said that they didn’t even notice the other weddings that take place on the same day as them. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, it hasn’t really bothered anyone in the past. Of course if you wanting a secluded wedding on a desserted island, then you would definitely be disappointed as that is not what you’re getting here J Your wedding experience is what you make of it. Who cares if the guests see other weddings that week – only yours will be special to them.

I can’t remember the exact closing time, I think it wasn’t all that late, like between midnight and 1am. When I was there there was nobody in the disco (other brides have said the same, I think one bride said it was busier). If you have a big crowd you can make your own party – almost like a private event! Other than that there is the nightly show, I forgot what time, probably like 9pm. And there is also a movie on the beach (shown with a big projector screen) every evening. One night there was a bonfire. So there are definitely lots of activities in the evening but things are pretty dead by like 11pm unless you want to go get a party going in the disco. You could also sit around the lawn chairs at the beach.

Well, depending on where your dinner in set-up, and how many people you have, you could just dance next to the pool. I imagine it’s a lot of work for them to set-up a dance floor in the sand which is why it’s so expensive (although yes, the price seems crazy – half of that price would seem more appropriate!)

I've mostly been trying to read as much as I possibly can before posting any questions and it is taking me a LONG time. For as little as I have read, this forum has been extremely helpful. Thank you to everyone who set this up and organized all of these threads!

I hope that after my wedding in January that I can be of some help to other Dreams brides. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. You posted that in exactly the right place. Don’t be scared of making mistakes, a lot of us didn’t really know how this worked in the beginning.

I’ll add you to our bride list.

Hey ladies,

I was wondering if any of you brought or had children at your weddings. We are bring 2 little flowergirls with us and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Kids Club or any childrens services. Their parents are a little nervous about making sure the girls are watched carefully if they leave them at the Kids area.

As I'm writing this I'm realizing how much there is to do in less than 2 months! I have to admit I've been procrastinating too much of this planning business!smile43.gif:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
