On a related note, I think everyone should put up an avatar picture! Not necessarily a pic of you but some random little icon or picture or something. It makes it so much easier to recognize people. Am I alone in this? I know that for some people I remember their avatars more than their names.

Sounds good but I do not know what an avatar is, or how to get one? Also, how or when do I become a full member? Should I give a planning review or something?

Oh, and of course, welcome to our new member "marryingmybestfriend". Hope everything works out for you!
Hi,

Sounds good but what is an avatar picture and how do I create one?

Also, what can I do to become a full member?

Thanks!

Go to "quick links" on the top menu, then "edit avatar". You can upload any picture. Just keep it mind it will be small so take something like that will look nice really small. I think I just found my avatar pic by looking for "starfish" in google images or something like that. You could also put a picture of your favorite flower, a nice beach, palm tree, whatever. Or you can put a picture of you. Since the avatars are so small I prefer to put a random image for that and then put real pictures in the signature, but that is just my personal preference.

Your member status will change as you post more. There are different stages like Noob, Junior Member, Full Member, Senior Member and a few others too I think.

Thanks Sunbride, I'll try to do my avatar pic ASAP.

Oct, Nov Brides.

The sunset on Nov 8 is at 5:08 pm. This is what time the sky is pink and purple and the sun dips behind the horizon. By 5:30, its pretty dark. So here is my schedule

2:00 Pictues individually and with friends and fam

3:45 to actually start at 4:00 Ceremony

4:30 - 5:30 pictures with fam and bridal party (and I feel this is super rushed)

4:30 - 6:00 coctail hour

6:15 open up room in Conf center for reception

7:00 Dinner

I'm just worried about running out of sunlight before I take pictures with my hubby..

I am glad to see that there will still be a few of the brides there when I am visiting. I bet there are going to be a couple that are not on the site as well. After reading through all the picture issues that's my only concern now - but we will make the best of it.

Has anyone that is getting married in October had a responce back from Landy after sending in the confirmation with all the details? I sent it about a month ago and didn't get anything so I am figuring that it will all be finilized when I get therehuh.gif

Just want to clarify for anyone noticing that I stated the sun set after 6pm in Oct is because Daylight Savings Time ends on Nov 2 and the sunset time will jump forward by one hour at that time. So sunset times in October are around 6:15-6:30 but sunset times in November are around 5:05-5:10pm. These are the times for Cancun, it will be slightly different in Tulum but not much.

I got screwed by DST at my wedding, because I had been looking at the sunset time from my date last year (assuming it would be pretty much the same this year) but last year April 1st was the first sunday in april (the fule for the start of daylight savings time) this year daylight savings time started a few days after my wedding and so my sunset time was an hour earlier (if we had gone a week later sunset would have been an hour later and we would have had longer beach days seeing as we like to sleep in!) I had to change my whole wedding day schedule when I found this out a week before leaving!

Just try to do as much as you can of the other stuff before the ceremony. If you allow yourself one hour for just the two of you after the ceremony that will be enough. That is about how much time we had for just the two of us, and it was plenty of time to do the beach as well as the staircase.

I am not sure how to create a new thread in the General Forum but I am having some trouble coming up with a song list. I am more of a classic rock kind of gal but it is a little hard to dance to Led Zeppelin, therefore... Can you ladies please post or PM to me your favorite dance songs?

This would help a lot!

Thanks!

Reception and fun will continue on through the night.... Anyone else going to be there in the first week of October? I do see a lot of November brides but I thought we did have a few people that were right around the corner as well.

Hope all is well with everyone - I am looking forward to getting back into chatting with everyone in the next few weeks.
Hey Anna! I'll be down the 1st week of Oct (will arrive Oct 7) as well as Trish. We are both getting married that week. We'll have to see if we can all meet up to at least say hi and maybe have a drink!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
