I reserved the ballroom in the convention center for my reception and i was wondering how big that room is... we have about 30 people booked right now and we're expecting around 50. I definately don't want the room to look too big for our party. Will a party of 50 be lost in there?

Excellent job, by the way, on your review. You are absolutely beautiful and so are your pictures. Thank you so much for helping our all us bride-to-be's and answering all these questions; it is so much appreciated!
Sorry, I can't help you with this one. When I went there the ballroom was newly built and I asked Landy to go see it but she said it was locked as it wasn't in use that week. So I never got to go inside.

There are 3 different rooms. The smallest is Coba and only fits 20, the largest is Chichen Itza and fits up to 200, but can be divided for smaller groups. The middle sized one is Uxmal, I don't know how many it fits.

I would email Lizette for clarification.

Chibi411 may be able to help you too as she used one of the ballrooms, you may want to try sending her a PM. Or ask Alin&Mako (had to do a search to find the right people as I remembered the info being posted but couldn't remember who!) as she did a site visit and was the one to give us info on the ballrooms, and she provided all the pictures of the ballrooms posted on page 2 of this thread. Send them a PM in case they don't see this. If you do get a capacity # for Uxmal please let me know and I will update page 1 with this info.

We will be there at the same time! I arrive on 11/16 and staying a week. Anyway, I feel your pain... it's often tough to get a response. As hard as it is, I would say at this point try not to regret decisions you have made--b/c you probably can't change it now. At tough times I am trying to remember that I am doing a once in a lifetime thing--planning a wedding to someone I love deeply! And this planning should even be--dare I say it--enjoyable! I am trying not to get bogged down with the rest... and it's true that most all brides seem to come away very happy at the end.

I know this place is awesome! Have there been many other brides who have found date twins on here? Im so glad we found out about each other so we can plan better. I wanted to ask you what you you and your guests were planning to do after 10:30. We are planning a bonfire afterparty on the beach and think we might hire the firedancers. I think the only other option is the disco? Let me know what you guys are thinking. Maybe we can come up with some good ideas.

Oh I know!!! It totally helps now, knowing that we'll be sharing the resort that day. And its helps knowing that we can plan things accordingly. Kind of a stress reliever. :)

Im pretty positive our guests and Fh and I were going to head over to the disco...

Most of our guests are big on dancing and partying so I def imagine we will be there!

I love you idea about the bonfire and fire dancers! that will def be a site to see. What a great idea for your reception. :)

As for your e-mail today. Fh and I actually originally wanted to have the cocktail hour right outside the chapel, in the courtyard outside. But after hearing about the hour difference between our weddings, we moved it, to get out of your way wink.gif Its not a big deal though... we really like both locations for the cocktail hour! So the ball is pretty much in your court. If you want to have the ceremony by the staircase, we can keep our cocktail hour by the chapel, or vice versa. You let me know! :)

I hope you get a hold of Landy or Lizette I cant imagine your stress with having to go away, fingers crossed that they get back to you soon. So you can plan everything out. :)

Sorry Ladies, it has been a couple of days. Sunbride thanks for the measurments of the gazebo, that helps so much.

Now I have two new questions, it the DJ worth the price?

I am totally worried about the hotel photographer not getting the pictures that I want, does anyone have suggestions on a reasonable outside photographer?

I am very excited though, I ordered my flower girl basket and ring pillow, and also our favors. More things to check off the list!smile36.gif

Welcome Lulu! So glad you found the forum--it is so such a terrific resource. And we DT brides are a good group. With all the work the people like SunBride have put in I personally think DT has turned into one of the best places to get married--if it wasn't already!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
