I would def keep your email and print it to take to her so she can't say she didn't tell you that you could have the music!
Brooke--great idea about having Tammy do it. I would love to know what she finds out. It is getting close--so is mine! We just need to try not to stress and ENJOY--or at least that is what everyone keeps telling me. :) But absolutely, I plan to bring my email... I just hope that they honor it--and don't say that I didn't explain myself correctly or something.

Chandra... I just noticed your wedding is on my birthday!! How cool.

So there is def some mix up about where music can be played...

I feel like you have to make your questions REALLY specific to get a straight answer with the WC, basically phrasing it so they only have to respond with a yes or no. fryingpan.gif

But anyways, when I first e-mailed Lizet I specifically asked about El Patio and if we weren't going to rent out the whole rest with the $750 fee, if we could still have music and she replied "no." She said only "private places" can have music set up, so you don't bother other guests.

So, all we know so far is that the following places can have music set up:

The beach

The massage hut on beach

The pool

The lobby terrace

If you are able to rent out El Patio for $750 fee then you can have music (but only if resort is a certain % full)

Not sure if we should jsut do half day or whole. Does that price that is listed for each boat include all people or is that just to rent the boat and you have to pay for each person that goes?...if you've even talked to them!!
I did speak to them - they told me we should book 2 months in advance, so I'd give them a call/email soon to book your boat. The cost of the boat includes people (no pp charge)...but check the boats capacity (we're doing an 8 person boat + captain and mate)
We are booking a full day because that's what the guys want as they are avid fishermen, but if your guests aren't, I'd think a half day would be enough.
It doesn't include transportation from the resort to the boat, so that has to be arranged seperately...I haven't figured that part out yet, but Morgan loved her transport company - let me see if I can find that link and I'll post it here...otherwise I'd think the resort could set up transport for your guests.

Also wanted to mention that lunch is provided in th eboat fee, but I'm going to ask the resort if they'll do box lunches for my guys since I know Dreams food won't make people sick...

I also asked about having a bonfire and welcom dinner on the beach on night before wedding and she told me that I would have to pay the private event fee, I'm assuming she meant the $750? She never said anything about $50 for the bonfire and so much per person. I'm getting so mad and frustrated with them I could scream!
Wow, that is definitely frustrating. Hopefully Tammy can help you. Otherwise you will just have to get it all figured out when you get there. It sucks for planning purposes (especially if you want to give your guests an itinerary in advance) but it will all work out fine in the end and you will be mad at yourself for stressing! Just try to remember that.

I'm thinking MAYBE the reason she didn't mention 50$ for the bonfire is becuase you said you also wanted to do a welcome dinner, so obviously you have to pay 750$ for the dinner on the beach (since it's a welcome dinner, not your wedding dinner, which they would do for free with either Ultimate or Dreams of Love package) and she just figured they would throw in the bonfire for free with that. I'm just guessing.

Second, about the music and El Patio, I remember another bride saying they had it all to themselves and never paid 750$ (sorry, forget who said this. I think it was one of the brides who went just after me, or maybe a 2007 bride). So I think maybe you will get charged the 750$ if you have just a small group but they won't charge you if you have a huge group. i.e. if the restaurant / terrace capacity is like 75people, and you have 75 people, then by default it's a private event because there is no space for anyone else. This is much different than if you are a group of 25 and you want a private event and they have to turn away guests even though there is space. Anyways, this is just a guess, but would maybe explain why some people don't end up paying the 750$ for private event at El Patio.

Hi Brooke,

I know how you feel. I emailed Landy last week about exchanging services in the Ulitmate Package and she has not responded. It is hard not to get ansty when everything is right around the corner.

Regarding music for the Reception...same thing. I originally asked for the Patio Terrace and she keeps sending me emails that confirm I am having my reception by the Pool. At first I was upset, but hey...I bet it will still be great either way.

I want a bonfire too but now I am afraid to ask Landy about it.....

Usually when she does not respond, I send the email again in Spanish and then she responds...weird!

I really shouldn't stress about it, I know it will all work out and be wonderful. Sunbride, I totally agrees, it is super hard to plan without having seen it first!! I'm thinking we may just do the pool for the reception dinner so we can have music. There are just so many decisions to make.

Thanks for everybody's support and info! It makes me feel so much better to hear you guys have had some of the same problems, and for the girls that are already married, it is good to hear how awesome it ended up being!

AFter much debate, we have decided to ship our stuff for OOT bags and reception decor. I just don't want to have to put it in suitcases, we have so much. I'm just going to risk it and ship it. I'll have tracking # and getting insurance, so that makes me feel a little better. I'm shipping this weekend!...wish me luck. I'm going to hopefully post my planning post soon too.

Neen, I think I'm going to try to book the fishing trip this weekend so hoepfully it isn't all booked up for our dates!

Brooke, your wedding is almost here! I know you must be sooo excited.

I will be VERY interested in hearing more about your shipping and if it arrived OK. My FH is freaking out because I keep buying more and more stuff and he just doesn't know where we are going to pack it. I went to Michael's today and they have all of their beach decor 90% off! Well, needless to stay I bought two baskets worth of shell tealight holders, travel candles, votives etc etc for only 18 dollars. I was sooo excited until I got home when my FH went bonkers and said he can't imagine how we are going to get everything down! ugh!

I've always read mixed reviews about DT and wasn't too keen on the idea of having my wedding there. But after a site visit, I loved it! And all the complaints on tripadvisor and travelocity were bogus (at least in our case)! We stayed in a Dreams Jr. Suite so that may have something to do with it but still, I can't remember ever smelling anything funny. My expierence with them was perfect!

That's it, I am going to Michael's this weekend!

Brooke, you may have mentioned it already but what are you doing for your ceremony decor?

We are Fed-Exing out Welcome Bag goodies as well. I figure it is better than trying to lug everything over on the plane. Landy said it would be okay so we'll see what happens!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
