The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

I was wondering if anyone can send me the package Dreams Tulum usually sends out two months prior to the wedding? (natgurova@gmail.com) - With all the decoration choices, flowers, etc...I would like to see my options earlier in the game =)

My wedding is still far away, January 7th 2015, but I already picked up some decorative shells at Christmas Tree Shops, they are so pretty! I am planning on having a runner on the reception table with some shells scattered and lighting underneath. For the centerpiece - i really like this idea:

The resort quoted me $100 + 16% tax for the vase, 3 lilies and marbles, and $21+16% for the petals. Uhm...- a bag of petals costs $.89 on ebay with free shipping. Marbles can be found at any dollar store. And for the lilies with a vase, they quoted $80+16% tax. I still think it is pretty steep...What are you ladies doing for your centerpieces?

Wow! That is pricey! Is that just for ONE centerpiece? So you'd have to pay like $140 per table? Holy crap. I'm getting married January 4th, 2015 (we got a better rate and can purchase plane tickets separately when we want). My colors are purple (orchid and plum) and lime green with hints of yellow. I was going to use the resort for centerpieces but now I'm starting to think twice. I may make them ahead of time or bring the supplies down with me. It's just difficult with glass... I would like to maybe do something with white starfish and orchids.

Yap, it is only for ONE centerpiece! I think i will have four round tables, so that means that i have to multiply the price by four! I decided to not have the petals (simply because they might fly away, and the price - i can get them off ebay much cheaper!), and go with the shells. I got a nice "mixed bag" with large shells of different variety from Christmas Tree Shops, and i got starfish there as well (6 starfish of about 4 inch = $2). I figured, i will bring the marbles for the vase, bring my seashells and scatter them, and just deal with getting the vase + 3 calla lilies (which will cost me ($80 + 16% tax)x4 = $371...arghhh). Still thinking - buying the flameless candles and bringing them as "centerpieces" will be a cheaper option, but i do not think it will be enough.

And slowly but surely things will fly out of the budget...=(

Are the tables round or rectangular or do you have a choice?

If you are doing one big table it is a long rectangular table, otherwise they are round tables. The round tables are large and sit up to 10 ppl.

The centerpieces are crazy expensive! I am getting married there in April and have decided to bring my own centerpieces. The ones in the option book are sooo tiny and still cost $70/each. It was WAY cheaper to bring my own and pay for the set up fee as I am having to anyways since I am bringing other things. Also i know you can't do fake petals on the tables. It is against their policies. They would have to be real petals, so you would be forced to buy those through them :(

Hi , I've just picked my wedding dress and it's nothing like I was wanting / imagining for my dream beach wedding in November- it is a traditional wedding dress with train!!! Do I loose my deposit and cancel ?? Have on terrace instead of beach ?? I'm so confused and don't know what to do - any help advice reassurance would be appreciated !! Thanks

Wear whatever is going to make you happy!!! If this is your dream dress who cares that it is traditional and you are getting married on the beach. It is your day! :) Im doing a beach ceremony and my dress mermaid style, lace and a train! I picked the dress I wanted regardless of where the ceremony is being held :)

THANKS! One more question... if the actual centerpiece I use (my bridesmaids bouquets most likely!) is artificial but they aren't "loose" petals is that ok? They aren't going to blow away. I could buy real preserved orchids from saveoncrafts.com too to lay on the table, that might be ok? Thanks again!

I just designed this for my Welcome Bags! I'm going to order it a white polypropylene bag from discountmugs.com. About $190 for 50 bags (in white). I can do the same design for you if you like, for $10 and just change the date and colors.

If you are having a symbolic ceremony do you still get a 'document' for us and witnesses to sign?

I do not think so. My fiance's frat brother got his "Justice of Peace" license, so he will be marrying us. The wedding coordinator said that it is ok, and we do not need to be in the country 3 days before, or anything like that. Although if you are using a minister there to get you married - not sure what the protocol is. Send them an email! so far, they have been responding to my emails within 1 business day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
