The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Please help! - I'm struggling to know which place to choose for the reception. I will have about 35 guests and maybe 4 tables. My main concern is privacy. I'd love to be on the beach, but am worried how the dj and dance will be set up as I don't want to go for the dance floor. Any thoughts from previous tulum brides would be much appreciated!

By night time, nobody is on the beach - dont' worry about this.

The poolside I would say is the least private.  I saw a poolside reception happening, and there was a movie showing just a little further down alongside the pool, and everyone wandering the resort can see you.  The beach I think would be most private unless you went with a conference room.

Hey everyone! I am wondering if anyone could help me with any information you have about which would be the best option for music at my reception. We are thinking about hiring a DJ and wondering if anyone has used the resort DJ or has hired of resort for music? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

We are going with DJ Doremixx. He has really good reviews but I'm not getting married until next month so will have to let you know then :)

Hi everyone! I am getting married at Tulum January 7, 2015...i know - so far ahead!!!

I am expecting about 30 or so people to join us, and have already booked a symbolic ceremony at the beach at 4pm. I am planning on having the pictures of my groom and I right after, and the cocktail hour from 5-6, group pictures, and reception at 7.

I have not read all the comments on this thread (but planning on doing so before the new year), but already have several questions..

I was planning on having my reception next to the Dolphin Pool, but saw a comment that it was not private at all...Any experiences?

And in terms of the music - would it be silly to have a DJ for only 30 people or so? And just like Pattel712 is interested - is the resort DJ any good?

I am sure there will be many more questions to come, but whooohooooo to all the brides with the upcoming weddings! Hope it will be the best time of your lives, girls!!

I keep reading over and over about brides having trouble with email communication...I have to admit - this has NOT been an issue for me at all! I hear back from the coordinator within 48 hours, and she has been so helpful. The resort photographer emailed me a few months ago to set up our meeting after we arrive - a communication I did not even start! I've contacted the spa, and they are the ones getting after me to respond faster! If anyone is having issues with communication, that is really too bad - I'd rate communication as A+++, we get married in April 2014 - and so far, I could not be happier with the planning process :D

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
