The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Sweet tip, thanks! Hey ladies who have already gotten married.. Did they send you a package about what flowers are available? Anything you can share? I have a picture of what I want but I'm wondering if they can handle it or if I should look for a florist who can.

I went with Juan Navarro. I get married in January so I have no idea how the pictures will turn out but he was great to coordinate with from the beginning, seems really friendly and I really like his portfolio. Take a look. www.juanphotos.com :)

Getting married here November 2013!  Just wondering if it is worth the extra costs of bringing in your own DJ, or if it is better to just rent speakers and hooking it up to an ipod OR just go to this disco on the beach that some of you are talking about?  Or is this disco pretty busy, and would it feel too impersonal?  Hope you ladies can help with this :)

Not sure if my last reply worked.  Here it is again: getting married here November 2013!  Wondering about whether it is worth the money to get a DJ, or would you recommend renting speakers and bringing an ipod?  Also, some of you mentioned a beach disco...what if we just skipped the DJ and speaker rental and just went to the beach disco?  Or would it be too impersonal with other people there outside of the wedding guests?

Sorry, I haven't been on for a while!  Hemzshaw, here is a brochure I got when I booked with DT about the flowers, although I think I'm going to go with an outside florist, Maya Floral.  They charge a $100USD delivery fee, but it still seems cheaper than going through the resort and the flowers are prettier!

Amanda2, I have no idea about the Beach Disco.  My wedding is in July, so we're all about indoor Air Conditioning!

We decided to go with DJ DoreMixx for the reception.  He charged $800 for 4-5 hours and provides his own speakers and fun party props.  This was a difficult decision for me because I figured we'd rent the speakers and do the Ipod thing to save money.  But when I really started adding up how much the rental was going to be plus the cost of downloading music and the shear amount of effort I would be putting into arranging the music, it is going to be totally worth it to me--even with the non-resort-vendor fee!  Fair warning before you book, though, he only accepts Western Union, which is really really annoying because, unless you already have a WU account, you have to physically go somewhere to send the money.

Anyway, welcome to all the newbies!  It's great to have some fresh blood around here.

Oh, did anyone see that there is a Spa for Kids?!?  Just discovered that today!  I'm going to have to treat my flower girl!  http://dreamsresortsblog.com/2011/12/20/dreams-tulum-open-a-spa-for-kids/

Hi Ladies,

I'm also getting married at Dreams Tulum in November of this year! I'm so excited! Was curious how other brides-to-be are planning the rest of the week for their guests? Welcome dinners at the resort? Organized group activities, etc? I'm thinking of a Welcome dinner at the resort one night, not sure how we are going to coordinate for 60+ guests and at least 1 organized trip but don't know where to start. Any tips or advice welcome!  Thank you!

Has anyone had any experience with the buffet option with part of the Ultimate Wedding Package? Does it cost more? What options are available? Also, has anyone bought the Ultimate Package but gone with the Silver cocktail hour to save on costs? We are ending up with a much bigger crowd that expected so was wondering if this is something they would consider? Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
