The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Glad to hear it was open two nights.  I know it was probably lame and the beach party was much more fun, but my wedding is in July and I'm worried the heat will drive us inside.  I'd hate for the party to be over when the reception is!

Hi Taegan - quick question regarding the decorations that you brought. How/when did you get them back? Did you have to take everything down yourself or did they do it and get it back to you? Were you able to go on and do your own thing after the reception, or were you left having to gather up your decorations?

Hi texasmandy,

We got all of our decorations back the day before we were leaving and the hotel staff brought it all back to our room in the suitcases we gave them. I should add that transfer was the only time something of ours was broken so if you have something important that you dont want  broken you should make sure whoever your wedding coordinator at the resort knows about it.

After our reception we all went to the disco on the beach and the hotel staff took care of everything else, so no take down or anything....its great!! just one of the many perks with a destination wedding :)

Hi everyone! Heres my review for Norma, I would recommend her to any bride she was amazing.

We hired Norma for our destination wedding in Tulum for October. And she was fantastic!!! We had myself and my 2 bridesmaids for makeup and hair. She brought along her hairdress, Moses and he did a fantastic job with our hair.

Communication: Norma was quick with email responses and precise in details

Price: A pretty penny, her prices are quite high we paid $560 for all three of us for hair and makeup. ITS WORTH IT!

Norma and Moses showed up half and hour early and were ready to get started as soon as we were. I told her I wanted a sexy smoky eye and showed Moses 2 pictures of what I wanted for my hair. Both of them nailed it.

They were by far one of the highlights of the whole wedding, they were fun, professional and most of all they did such an amazing job with us. I wish I could have them down here in Canada!

You pictures look amazing!!  I too am worried about the extra cost of food and set up!  What are you ladies doing for lightening?  And, what are you doing for table decorations?!  I am going back and forth and I am worried about what to bring/what just to pay for?!!  Please advice!  I was thinking about tiki torches, but its almost $150 to rent 4 (rip off, I could buy 20)  What are the ball shaped lights called vs the bags with candles.  We are getting married on the beach and having a poolside party.  We have hired DJ Doremixx, so I am glad to hear he has lights.  I am also concerned with the food- my husband to be is a chef and I work at a restaurant so that stuff is VERY important to us.  We might be stuck doing a buffet if we hit 50+ which we are borderline.

Thank you ladies that have been to the resort helping us future brides out! Please help me with some advice on decorations and setting up!  What it elegant simple and beautiful?

Hi - I am planning my wedding for January 2014 and am trying to decide on a ceremony location. The Beach seems to be the pick, but I have seen some great photos of the Convention Center... has any other brides got married or looking at getting married at the Convention Center??

Hey Kristin... Dreams Tulum Beach is actually pretty cool for getting photos done as well the property has some cool romantic places to take your dream photos of your wedding.  As well I have been to many cenotes where people drash the dress photos or just go for an outing.   I take it your getting your hair done at the salon there?  I cant send PM's as I am only allowed 2 at this time .. I am in Canada too by the way I live in Calgary.  Where you flying from?

Kristin,

I'm getting married in January 2014 as well! Do you have a date yet? Ours is Jan. 28! I think that we are going to do the beach for the ceremony and cocktail hour and possible one of the terraces for the reception. What other things have you planned?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
