Taegan, Thanks for your review! You look amazing in your pics! Your dress is perfect and very beachy. I love. Can I ask you, did the resort makeup/hair ppl come to your room, or was it an outside vendor? Your hair looks flawless! I was also wondering about your reception location, do you have any pics? I guess I'm curious as to how exactly they set your tables up in terms of plates/glasses. How was dinner? :) You seems like you guys had a great time. What type of excursions did you all do?

We used a external hair and makeup team Norma Zurama PM Mac I would recommend her to absolutely anyone!!! she did my makeup my bridesmaid and my MOH and we all looked amazing. She asked me what look I wanted and I told her just make my eyes pop and make it look sexy and I loved my makeup, it was actually one of the best experiences we had. She brought a hairstylist with her and he also did a fantastic job on all our hair. I used extensions (for the first time ever, I was pretty nervous) showed him 2 pictures and he did such an amazing job with my hair. It lasted nearly all night.  They came to the resort at 10, waited for us for half an hour (I thought they were coming at 1030) and they did our hair/makeup in my room....make sure you crank up the AC ha ha

We had our reception by the seaside grill on the beach, close to where they have the beach ceremony and it was perfect. It gave us a beautiful view of the beach and ocean and enough privacy to make it feel intimate. I dont have pictures yet, we are waiting for pictures from our photographers and our guests (we didnt use our camera that day) once I get them I will post them.

The dinner was great! We had the italian salad, fillet mignon steak with shrimp and mashed potatos and chocolate cake for dessert and everything was delicious. I love me some steak and I was tempted to ask for another one it was so good. Our cake was a vanilla cake with chocolate filling, it was good but it didnt blow my mind.

I turned into a lazy beach bumn the second we got there so I didnt participate in all the excursions everyone else did but I did go to the Tulum ruins which are incredible and we went snorkeling in  Los Dios cenote which was alot of fun. I also snorkeled near the beach and went kayaking (we saw some sting rays and a manta ray) Our guest's also went shopping into playa del carmen twice, deep sea fishing, explorer land....least I think it was called that and they went to Chichen Itza. Everyone said they had a great time at the resort and the excursions and I think anything you plan on doing will ultimately be enjoyable....one thing we wanted to do was take a tour bus into coco bongo and do the party pub crawl but by the end the resorts entertainment team was so much fun we decided not to.

This is not our wedding pictures, its from DREAMS TULUM 2012 thread however it shows the same location where we had our reception. We had the head table (rectangle), DJ table (rectangle) , dessert/guest book table (rectangle) and 3 tables for our guests (round) in there with the dance floor in the middle.

Once we get our own pictures I will be sure to post them

Silly question I know but I have family that likes their meat super well done lol, and I want mine rare. .. Sounds like your guests had a ton of fun! I def wanna check out Chichen Itza, its organic a hike but I think FI and I are doing it on the honeymoon portion of our stay. Congrats to ya! Sound like you had a great experience!

Taegan:

Wow!  You look stunning and it sounds like you had an amazing time!  Congrats!!  I'm leaving in 2 weeks and you're review is making it even more exciting.

For anyone interested in the excursions, I emailed one of the AMSTAR reps at the resort and he emailed me an attachment with all the available tours.  I then emailed that to all my guests to help them to plan their week.  I'd like to do 1-2 of them if I get a chance!

Thanks beabride! This is great info. The jungle tour sounds interesting. I think I'll look into that more. We went to XelHa last time I stayed in the area and it was pretty cool. Lots of snorkeling to do, and some neat cenotes, and a cliff jump/lazy river. they do charge lots of extra for their additional activities but we all had a good time. We even saw a barracuda!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
