The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

We got married at Dreams Tulum on April 18, and the day was amazing!!!  Natalia was such a great help & ensured that everything ran smoothly.  The only negative part of the day happened a the salon - they didn't have enough staff to do our hair and makeup (there were 7 of us girls from my group there all starting around the same time), and they actually brought in a female employee to work on my mom's and sister-in-law's hair, and it was very obvious this girl had never done hair before in her life.  We got the spa manager Rosa to stop this girl, but then my mom had to wait quite a while for an actual spa employee to start on her hair, which was a bit stressful as it really pressed her for time.  I felt bad because we all had to leave her there by herself.  It ended up working out ok, and I really loved everyone's hair and make-up in the end.  The only other thing was that we had ordered flowers for our hair, lillies, which were sent to the spa, and they ended up each being the size of our faces!  We didn't use them, but I still had to pay for them as they were in the contract.  They ended up finding two small flowers at the spa for my hair, but nothing for my bridesmaids.  I didn't end up asking for my money back until after we got home as I didn't want to waste any of my time there doing it, and they wouldn't do anything for me.  Other than that...... It was the most beautiful day of our lives.  We got married at 3:30 p.m. on the beach, and then had our reception by the relax pool.  I was so pleased with both locations.  I was worried about it being to hot on the beach during the ceremony as the high was 89 degres that day (that's the high without the humidity), but the wind from the ocean kept everyone comfortable.  And it didn't hurt that the ceremony was a quick 20 minutes too.   The relax pool for the reception was beautiful & very private, and the service and food was excellent.  It was a full moon, and it was surreal to look out from the head table and see the pool, ocean, and moon rising, all at once, it was beyond gorgeous.  We had DJ David Arista from the resort do our music, and he was amazing, had him for 3 hours and we got great value, $750 for the night, and he played beautiful music during dinner, and really fun dance music after, our reception turned into a big dance party with all 34 of us dancing, which we did not expect!  We had the gold meal it seems everyone picks:  garden salad, shrimp quesadillas, surf and turf, and chocolate cake.  We got the golden 05 wedding cake; it was pretty, and also absolutely delicious!  We got the vanilla cake with strawberry filling - make sure you actually take the time to eat a piece of the cake, it was so good.  We used Sweet Fire Photography as our photographer, and we are so so happy with the results.  Here's a link to the slideshow Lori (the photographer) created for us:

Best of luck at your weddings!!

Hello lovely ladies - I have a question for you all. I am looking to book a DJ for our reception, and we are planning on having both the ceremony and the reception on the beach. Do you know if it is possible for us to use a DJ on the beach, and for the ceremony as well??? I wasn't sure because we would be on the beach.

Also can anyone recommend a DJ?

We used DJ Bijan and he covered both our ceremony and reception, and our ceremony was on the beach, and his pricing is great!

Yes we paid a vendor fee for our DJ.  We used DJ Bijan.  As for our photographer (Claudia Rodriguez) we did not need to pay a vendor fee but did have to pay for a plated meal (so pay the silver or gold menu price for the photog to eat).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
