The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

I've been reading some posts and there are quite a few that indicate that they are writing their own ceremony wording - is this true for all symbolic ceremonies?  Dreams hasn't told me anything about this...HELP!!!

I was hoping the judge would have set readings and we'd just add some of our own readings if we wanted.

We leave in less than a month and I feel like I have so much to do!   I need to compose a welcome letter--any advice on that would be much appreciated.  I don't have enough posts to open links--so please pm me any ideas or templates.   I have no idea what to do about decorations and I can't decide if I want the reception by the dolphin pool or on the beach.   I've been trying to figure out the ceremony too.  We are having the legal ceremony, but adding our own stuff too it, because frankly the legal ceremony is not that romantic.  I'm just getting a little stressed out.  I've kinda put off the whole planning thing.

Micnic, Complaining - not really.  Worried - yes!  My FI whole family is in eduacation which left us with very limited dates to choose from.  We bought fans and evian water mist bottles for the guest during the ceremony at 5:00.  We are having the cocktail hour on the lobby terrace which I'm hoping will allow guest to cool off in the shade and if they want they can step inside for the AC and we booked the reception at the seaside grill and hopefully a breeze will come through = )  We are getting so excited - I have shower #1 this Saturday!!!

Any current or past brides mail their decorations to the resort early?  If so, did you have any trouble with the items getting through customs and at the resort safely?  My FI mom is worried about shipping sand for the sand ceremony and thinks they are going to puncture the package to make sure it is not the other white powdery substance?

shanmoh, is that what you're doing mailing your items to DT? We are still not sure whether we wanna mail the stuff or just have people take an extra suitcase?? Does anyone know exactly how much it actually costs to ship things to Mexico?

I have read some articles about shipping items down to Mexico. It was expensive and then customs didn't let the artilces in the country. Some brides did not have a great experience therefore I wouldn't recommend it. I know I am bringing everything with me and just getting people to bring an extra thing here and there. I think it will work out better that way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
