The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

The night of our wedding we had planned to go to the disco, but when we walked out of the French restaurant, we all headed towards the Sugar Reef Bar, b/c there was live music being played. We couldn't have asked for anything more really! I had heard that the disco wasn't the greatest, so I'm glad we didn't end up going!

12 hours to go!  :D

Have an amazing time, can't wait to hear about it!

Sara - thanks, I'm a little worried about the resort videographer since I requested a link and they don't have any samples for me to see, what was the quality like?  I asked them a bunch of specific questions about how they record and deliver and the responses I got raised a lot of red flags for me so I'm thinking of going ahead and getting Mike Cantrell to do the video for us because he will also get our first dance, cake cutting, and do well wishes on the video from our guests.  Plus he's going to assist me in making a live video feed of the ceremony for grandparents and my sister that are unable to be there.  He makes me feel a lot more comfortable.  I may have the resort videographer come to the rehearsal dinner instead then since we'll be doing parent speeches and stuff and I'm planning on having the resort photographer come then too.  That way I don't lose what I have.

barbiegirl - that sounds like so much fun, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that something like that is happening on our night too now

Thanks for that!  I shall pass the information along.  We'll get dollars then, although I recall that when we left Mexico last time, we got charged an 'exit fee' that had to be paid in pesos when we checked in at the airport.  We were thinking about getting pesos just to pay for that for our group.  Does anybody know if that's still the case?

Only 2 1/2 weeks 'til we leave for Mexico and unfortunately I haven't finished planning... smile43.gifI just have a few questions that some of you might be able to answer...

1.  I understand that maracas are easy to come by (and cheap!) in Playa del Carmen, so I'll definitely get some of those, but what about starfish?  I'd like to line the aisle (on the beach) with them, but thought they might be easier (and cheaper) to pick up in Mexico... does anybody know for sure?  PS  I got the idea from someone's review, but can't remember who... thanks!

2.  I'm renting the sound system for the reception for 2 hours... I thought we'd start the music after we eat... does anybody know when the clock starts ticking on that?

That's it for now, but I'm sure I'll have more as I think of them.

Thanks much!

Question for Canadian brides - were any of you able to take advantage of the 6th room free promotion that is currently on the website? Air Canada Vacations is telling me it's every 16th room because it's a wedding group. The fine print on the Dreams website states that only free weddings wouldn't apply, but we're not doing the freebie.

I'm also Canadian!

Our group rate is through signature/sunwing and they also have the every 16th trip free. The Dreams promotion is SO much better... every 6th trip free. I hounded my travel agent though to get the Dreams promotion and we finally got them to agree. The details for us is it is a maximum of 4 free trips (2 rooms). We are able to split the free trips among all our guests too, which will be about a $200 saving per person! The travel agent will cut all our guests who booked through our group rate a check 2 weeks before we leave!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
