Yes, there are additional costs, but you do not have to pay for the additional cocktail hour beyond 20 people.

I had around 80 guests, and I only had the 20 person cocktail hour...didn't pay a penny more. My guests didn't care if they didn't get an hor doeruve and if they wanted a cocktail they only had to walk to the bar within 100 feet. We still had a private area where the mariachi played and pictures were taken. It's only an hour anyways, then the reception starts. You can choose the gold menu for 65/per person or the silver for 55/person. Even if you have the Ultimate package...they don't care, if you need to save costs, get the silver menu.

Also, I do not recommend getting a cake beyond what's in your package. A cake for 20 people is more than enough, especially since your menu includes dessert. I don't even know if any of my guests had a bite of cake...absolutely no clue. We were all full and dancing on the dance floor.

I suggest save your money and don't splurge on the cocktail hour and cake, unless those are really important to you. Then you have more money for a DJ or nice photographer.

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone had a template they could email me of their program.  We're having a symbolic ceremony and I want to get some programs printed off and I don't know what the outline or timeline should look like.

On another note - I just want to vent because I feel like an idiot! I guess my fiance and I were so eager in getting contracts signed with our TA last year that we sorta spaced on it when it came time to remind guests of payments.  I seriously thought that the guests could pay for their rooms after their stay - like you normally do at hotels - but they have to pay for their stay by March! Our wedding isn't until May!  Just a little frustrated cuz we had to leave the country to attend to a family matter and in that time, we received our invites so they've been sitting here for a few weeks and should have been sent in the middle of January - now they won't get sent out until tomorrow and I'm requesting guests to respond by March 1st (if they intend on going) or by no later than March 20th.  Agh! Sorry for the vent but thanks for reading smile43.gif

hey, when I booked with my travel agent our guests had to book and pay by October and wedding isn't until March 31st 2011, it was crazy, it was a mad rush to get invites out and they only had a month to decide and pay!! It really limits the amount of people that come. On the other hand, if you ignore the date that the TA gives you, people will still be able to attend if they decide later on, my TA told me (after) that people could be added to our group right up until the week we leave, so in hindsight I wouldn''t have stressed so much about the deadline.

Our wedding is in May and all of our trips are to be paid for by March 18th.  It's different when you work with a TA compared with the hotel directly.  That doesn't mean people can't still decide to go after that though.  Don't forget having everyone booked by the date the TA gave you also helps you in your planning as far as knowing exactly how many people you have.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
