The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

I've had nothing but issues since that day we announced our engagement....the whole "we're engaged" was followed by "do we really have to go to Mexico now".....We wanted it very small then the guest list got out of hand because so many were really interested in going, and now hardly anyone is interested in going.  Now all of these people are saying they can't make it.  I'm really over it and just don't care anymore.  My MOH swears she's still coming (she's pregnant and will have a 4 month old my wedding time, and mind you I traveled to Thailand for her wedding) however, everyone keeps telling me not to count on her being there, so we'll see, she keeps asking about the insurance for the trip "just in case". People can be very frustrating and honestly there are only 2 people that have any excuse as to not being able to afford, my parents because they've been laid off and we've decided to pay for them to be there, everyone else is just CHEAP and not understanding that it's also a vacation for them, I just happen to be getting married during it.

Thanks for the warm words and support. I knew this would be happening, but isn't it FRUSTRATING!!??!!! :( Achi, Oh wow your bro didn't come even thou you paid for him!?! Unreal. I have a brother that would probably do the same thing! Although I didn't invite his hag, so he won't be coming :P And my BF probably won't be coming either. She's a teacher and can't (won't) take time off other than spring break. It is hard to not get upset and think ppl don't care about you and your wedding like you'd hope eh. But your review was wonderful, and sounds like you had a fab wedding. Did you post any pics yet?? Your profile pic looks wonderful! I'd love to see more. Angie, I hear ya!!! I also want to scream constantly, DONT COME THAN, SHUT UP ABOUT IT ALREADY!!!! Ahh.. Feels better doesn't it!?! Cookie, I agree with your statement. At first I thought, those that love and care for me will FORSURE be there. Nope, no they aren't. FI's dad. I know he cares and is happy but just refuses to leave his small town for anything, even to see his only son get married. :( I won't hold any grudges with those, but I just wish that those who want to come would just shut the fuck up about it!!! Or at least the negatives! Veronica, I hope your MOH comes for you, but I would be skeptical with a 4 month old. As it stands now Iâ€ll have one person standing up with me, my SIL as my MOH/BF is the teacher and won't be coming. Although she says she's looking into it.... I wish ppl would just shoot straight. Like FI's Dad. He just flat out said, Iâ€m not coming. It was nice that he didn't dance around it. It actually made it easier to accept. I would also like the 2011 price list; I was just sent the 2010 one by Landy. dubois.melanie.c@gmail.com ow hereâ€s the kicker. We paid in full on Saturday for our package. Our agent insisted that we had to have 10 ppl pay in full to secure the “group†package. Sunday night, the rate is $900.00 per person CHEAPER!!! I just want to cry. My agent is coming off very wishy washy and I donâ€t know what to do. Iâ€m going to have the ppl that have paid pissed and miserable at my wedding and Iâ€m not going to have anyone else come!!! Boo me!!!

haha, I also want to scream that sometimes!  Maybe someone should start a thread where we can all yell "if you dont want to come, then shut the **** up already because we dont need you there"  :)

I think I just commented on one of your other threads (was that you?  price increase for DT?)... and I really think you need to call your TA asap this morning, or get in touch with Sunwing directly.  Either way, do it asap because I know the early booking bonus ends today.  Something doesn't seem right about whats happening with your prices.

Cookie, I have no one interested at the moment to book with the price our TA is offering.  The advertised pricer is cheaper that what we paid currently.....

She's hopefully getting back to me about the price difference between Sunwing and Air Canada today.

I love you girls... I know I will most likly never meet any of you, but really, the posts I've read on here, and continue to read- helped me before the wedding, and are helping me AFTER the wedding believe it or not!

I am leaving Calgary Jan 16 and returning Jan 23, 2011 and flying Air Canada, does anyone else have these timelines?  If so, what kind of prices have you been given?

This question is more for anyone who has already been to Dreams Tulum, but opinions from anyone would be great!

Are travel mugs a good idea?  I know a lot of brides are doing them, but wondering if DT specifically would be a good place?  i.e. do they give you your drinks in tiny flimsy cups, or in larger ones that would be close to the size of a travel mug anyways?

Hi Cookie- they give you drinks in pretty good plastic cups- they're not the cheap kind that you'd find at the dollar store.  I was thinking about doing the travel mugs as well, but I thought people would either forget them or not bring them to the bar because they could just throw their cups out and get fresh ones after each drink.  But if that's what you want, it's not a bad idea =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
