While we were there, it was Tuesdays and Fridays. Mexican Fiesta on Tuesdays and Carribean Festival on Fridays.

Great review! Love the detail. I remember seeing your set up briefly that evening. I am working on my review....slowly, but congratulations! I must say that I had a chuckle to myself when you noted that you didn't know what to think about Natalia because we feel the same way. She was non-existant leading up to and directly following the wedding but pulled off exactly what I wanted during the wedding which makes it hard to complain, but our checkout was a nightmare with not getting our stuff back. Anyway I'm happy for you! Thanks for sharing!

I emailed the WC and she reserved tables for us on Wednesday night during the Enigma Show. That is the night of our rehearsal- so I thought we could have the rehearsal, go to dinner in the world cafe (free), and a finish the night at the show. What is Enigma Night and is it fun?

Another question...

How long is the reception? I think its supposed to be 4 hours. My ceremoney is at 6:00-6:30. Cocktail hour is from 6:30-7:30. Reception is from 7:30- 10:30, but that only give me a 3 hour reception! I'm paying for a 4 hours (i think), I read that the ballroom closes at 10:30, are they going to keep the ballroom open the extra hour? Should i email her?

I thought it was 4 hours as well, because I thought girls said they started dinner at 6:30 and it didn't end until 10:30. But I emailed Aurora and she said very matter of factly that the reception is ONLY 3 hours and after that I have to pay I think $15/per person/per hour (might be more). I can't find the email...but I'm pretty sure it was something outrageous. Especially since I've already booked a DJ Doremixx for 4 hours. What the heck is the point? So now I'm paying an extra hour for a DJ I'm not going to have? I just don't get it. They seem to really have a vendetta for brides getting married this year. First, no $20 menu, superfluous set-up costs, now having to pay an additional $1500 if I want to have a 4 hour reception, even though I'm already paying for the private event fee. Do they expect me to get married at 3pm and wait until 7:30pm to eat dinner? I was hoping 3pm ceremony, pictures, 5-6 cocktail hour, 6:30 dinner till 10:30. I felt like others had done this and it was included....not surprised though. Should have just had an at home wedding, seems like after all these nickel-and-dime fees it would have been exactly the same cost.

this is BS, I swear I read somewhere that the reception is 4 hours. I feel like everything is going to be rushed. My only other option is to bag the cocktail hour and just go to a bar for 1/2 hour and start the reception dinner at 7:00. It sucks cause because my package includes cocktail hour. Maybe I'll only have it for 1/2 hour and still take advantage of the food. I also might take my pictures before the wedding, so i'm not rushed. I really didnt want my soon to be hubby seeing me until I walked down, but pictures are super importent to me. Let me know some of your ideas to get around this.

Our wedding was at 5:00PM
Group photos immediately after
Cocktail was from 6:00 to 7:00PM Bride & Groom pics during
Reception from 7:00-10:45PM roughly

We completely missed our cocktail hour but the guests enjoyed it. We were actually late to the reception by 15 mins because of the photos... we did feel rushed with the photography, so did the photographer but we figured since we were doing a trash the dress the next day, it was ok. I personally wanted my groom to see my dress as I walked down the aisle, but if you don't mind seeing each other before, it might give you more of a relaxed time taking photos.

This is a question for any girls married recently: If dinner reception started at 6:30, did they let it continue until 10:30? Did you have to pay extra for this? Or did they really cut you off at 9:30?

Also, how long does it take overall to serve dinner? I want to have adequate time for dancing.

I did not feel as though our reception was rushed... not sure how other brides felt. I don't think that I've read any reviews saying so. Your DJ should be bringing some lighting, so even if you don't pay extra to continue the wait staff, maybe you can still continue your reception?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
