Cocktail hour question:

Did anyone rent tables/chairs for their cocktail hour? Where did your cocktail hours take place? Near the ceremony spot, near the reception spot, or else where? We are trying to figure out whether we should pay extra for a few tables to be set up for the cocktail hour - any thoughts?

I am pretty sure there are lots of options for the location of the cocktail hour. I am not sure where I will have my cocktail hour but I don't plan on renting any extra tables for that part of the event. I am looking to save $ and that is not an extra expense that I think is necessary for just an hour. I remember reading in some reviews that people asked to have a signature drink and upon arriving at the cocktail hour the drinks were already made and waiting on an extra table.

There are a few options for coktail hour. We went with the Lobby Terrace. The hotel asked all non-wedding party guests to leave. They set up an horderve table. There were tables and chairs there as it it an out side "lounge area". We chose this option because we were concerned about heat. From the terrace, our guests could also go into the lobby bar, which is air conditioned. There are large glass doors between the two, so guests could still see each other regardless of which area they were in. The heat ended up not being bad for our cocktail hour, so all of our guests stayed outside. There is also enough room for the marriachi band to set up and play, without getting in the way.

I did see a couple of cocktail hours set up on the beach, very near where the ceremony takes place. For these, there were a few tables set up and a couple of chairs from the ceremony were left.

I believe the other option for cocktai hour is the courtyard outside of the chapel. This area is also an entrance into the Asian resteraunts. The courtyard is really cute though.

Are you sure you would have to rent tables and chairs? Shouldn't seating be included?

Yey!!! I finally get to post!! I've been lurking/posting a little bit since April when we talked about making it official. We ordered my dream ring, a radiant Tacori! Took 6 weeks to get it and he officially proposed on Monday night! With a beautiful romantic dinner of steak and lobster, two dozen roses, one red, one white, ring box hidden in the roses. And did a lovely job of telling me how happy he is and got down on one knee! I'm so happy and so incredibly lucky!!!

Please add me to the upcoming bride list :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
