I have a question about transportation, not using a taxi but getting like vans to shuttle my guests back and forth for an excursion, did anyone use a specific company for this or have any suggestions of someone I could contact? Any help would be great, I haven't gotten very far on my searches as they all seem to be in Cancun.
Hi Vlynnw -

Try contacting Playa Del Carmen Discounts - they have a 1-800 number that works in the US. You can have them quote you a driver. Also try: American Express and Amstar. Both have shuttle services.

Northernflasher I just read your review!! WOW!! You are AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for providing so much information not just about the wedding but also little details at the resort!

I also love love your pics from the disco!!! I'm planning on taking my wedding group there too, so it's great to see actual pics from the disco with all the colours, etc!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Michelle - congrats and thanks for your detailed review. Your pictures are full of action, seemed like your party really rocked Tulum! :) Just had a question, you mention that you were not able to use Wine Cellar as a rain option? Is it just not available as a rain option or not available for a reception? I had planned for our reception to be at Wine Cellar.

Thanks.

Thanks. Our disco pics are some of my favourites, most of ours were taken with the photographer (either Hubby or Christian) standing on one of the speakers at the edge of the dancefoor!!!

You will have an amazing time, dont forget to get someone to take the rest of your wedding cake with you for a midnight snack!!! elefant.gif

Thanks. Im not too sure if you cannot have it there at all anymore.

I submitted my wedding planning form to her 6 weeks in advance of our wedding stating I wished to use the wine cellar as my rain location and nothing was ever said to the contrary before our arrival at the resort.

When we discussed it at our pre wedding meeting it was as if it was an unusual request and she said she would have to speak to the manager to see if it was possible but when the answer came back it was a no.

Our only experience of a group booking in the wine cellar was my MIL getting us booked in for an informal rehearsal dinner before the wedding. In order to agree to this the manager insisted we buy branded wine from the cellar rather than drinking "all inclusive". I think we pissed him off cos we only bought a few bottles at $25 each. I dont know if this had a direct effect on the service or whether they just were not fully staffed but we were in there 4 hours for them to serve 13 of us with 3 courses.

Dont get me wrong the food is delicious and I have heard some great reviews about the wine cellar so I dont know what happened on our night.

I would say definately organise it through the WC, dont wait til you get there, make it clear you want a confirmation on the wine cellar BEFORE you get to dreams.

I dont have my copy of the Dreams wedding guide but im sure it is or used to be advertised as a location in there so if I were you I would make a point of checking and using this as bargaining tool if you dont get the desired response.

Anyone who has already had their wedding, or is in the planning stage using lanterns at their reception?

We are having our reception at the adult pool, & was wondering if anyone has any idea how long the cords need to be, and whether need to bring our own extension cords etc?

Thx. :)

I have never heard of anyone using extension chords for their paper laterns. most bride on here have used battery powered lights or made L.E.D. throwies... which i still haven't made for mine yet...seems a bit confusing... i'll let you know how they turn out. i know there is a thread on here somewhere that teaches you exactly how to do it.

Thanks Michelle for that long and detailed review. i got a lot of good tips that i hadn't seen anywhere else on this thread yet. i'm in the process now of printing out all the pictures for my desired flowes and cake! Appreciate it! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
