What day will you be arriving to DT? If we have similar colors, maybe we can try to go in on chair bows and such.
Have you bought your flight yet? We already booked the hotel, but we can't seem to find an affordable flight (except on orbitz/expedia/etc), but the direct airline route is $200 more per person! I'm almost about to book on one of those large travel discount sites like orbitz and just take the risk...it seems like it only affects those who need to change/cancel flights and I don't plan on that.
What days are you going to be at DT?
I think my color is going to be turquoise... at least so far that is the plan :) What are your colors? and what are you thinking of doing for your decor? I am still talking to my love about chair bows and stuff, but he seems pretty hesitant lalala.gif
Who is your planner? I have only heard from Aurora so far, is that normal?

Hey Ladies,

I am coming up on the big day and had a question about prices. I am trying hard to find an email I thought I had that confirmed since I booked in mid 2009 that I would be under the 2009 guidebook for prices. Has anyone recently had a problem with getting this sort of thing worked out with the wedding coordinators? (in lieu of a email confirming this...I hope I can find it!). Some of the prices have changed a decent amount between the two guidebooks and am really hoping to keep the 2009 prices. We are trying to confirm final prices with them before getting there.

Thanks for ALL the help along the way! I would be freaking out without this forum!

Emily

I'm going to be doing the 'free wedding package' and was wondering if we will still get a champagne toast after the ceremony? We are NOT having a cocktail hour, wayyy to much extra costs for no reason, but I would still love to have a celebratory glass of champagne right after saying 'I Do'. Do they serve champagne at the bars upon request, and is that free?

Hi All!

I am getting married on June 3rd at DT and will have roughly 100 guests with us. I'm sorry if these questions have already been asked, but there is a lot of info here that I am trying to sift through. We want to have our reception in the ballroom with dancing afterward. I am curious about the DJ services that they provide. I saw some reviews that said they used DJ Mania. Is that a DJ at the resort or someone that was hired from outside? The resort charges something like 250/hr for the DJ so I'm just wondering what is included in that cost. Do they have a good/loud sound system with lights/disco balls etc? Also we have a long list of songs that we would like them to play, but not enough to last through the whole night. Can we just bring our ipod with those songs loaded with instructions for when we want those songs played and have them add in songs from their database throughout the night?

Any brides who have had a large group like us and had the buffet dinner option? Does it cost the same as the silver or gold packages when it is buffet and not table service?

Thanks for any answers/insight!

Ems4 - I also booked about mid 2009, but as far as I have heard, brides are expected to pay the "new" prices, or at least that's what I've been quoted by Aurora. If you can find an email with specific prices that are based on 2009, then that would definitely help you to get the prices you were quoted. Good luck finding that email! look through the ones you've sent as well, because it may be attached to one of those.

Oceanwonderland, as far as I know the free wedding package comes with champagne toast and cake for 10 people, so I don't see why you couldn't request to have the champagne right after the ceremony. That is what my FI and I are going to request as well. If not, I would imagine they have champagne at the bars, but I can't be certain as I've never been there. This may be a question for previous brides....any previous brides who can help us with this?

Hi SaraMexicoBride! Welcome!!

We booked our wedding in July 09, for a May 2010 wedding, and there were no options for us. We took the only open day (5/21) they had left. So I would say, yes book as soon as possible, you can always change these things.

About the 2009/2010 rates- I noticed that the ultimate package went up in the new brochure after I booked, so I emailed Aurora:

"Hi Aurora,

I was just looking at the website and I noticed that the prices for 2010 went up after we booked them. We were quoted the price of $2,650 when we booked, but it looks like from the Dreams website the price went up to $2,760. I assume we will still pay the lower fee as we booked at the $2,650 rate, yes?"

"Dear Amanda:

We would like to confirm you that you have to pay the $2,650 usd for your Ultimate Wedding Package. the prices on the packages have not been changed."

So... I'm just going to bring all of my emails, which I've heard to do on here =) and hope that I only have to pay the $2,650 (and of course all of the tiny hundreds of extra things they charge you for when you end up getting there).

We had the free package and yes we had a champagne toast and the cake. The cake was amazing actually! It was enough for way more than 10 people

Hi Mimi, there are quite a few girls who got nice flowers from Dreams Tulum, and they have many more to offer than what they put in their brochure. Somewhere in the first few pages of this forum, Sunbride posted a pic of the tropical bouquet they did for her. I think they even used birds of paradise in it. You could email Aurora and ask her what types of flowers they have available (at no extra charge), and see if there's something from that list you like.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
