The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

I know that the wedding guide mentions that a 10% tax and 15% tip will be charged on the reception dinner. Does anyone know if that tip is for the WC or is it for the waiters? Did anyone or is anyone planning on tipping the WC separately? I most likely will tip the WC separately, but how much is enough?

We gave Anabel a small Bath & Body Works gift and then $40 at our first meeting with her - she did such a phenomenal job that my parents tipped her $50 at the reception. I think it's whatever you want to do, they work hard regardless of if you tip... but the time and sweat put into each wedding they do (sometimes with 3 a day!) is amazing, and I don't know when they even get to see their families or even eat!

Hi Everyone!

I have two questions:

1. Is there some place on this forum where we can post our wedding date to see what other destination brides will be getting married at Dreams Tulum during that same week? That may be really helpful for coordinating, and maybe we can even cut costs by sharing decorations??

2. Aurora wrote me back that the Seaside Grill is not a very private location. Can any destination brides that have been to Dreams Tulum help me decide on a reception location that is private(ish) and has a cement floor with an overhang... basically, i want the tables to be set up on the sand but be next to an outdoor/indoor area, one with a cement floor and an overhang so that guests can dance there and we don't have to pay extra for a dance floor on the beach. Any suggestions?? :)

1. Look at the first page of this thread and you will see a list of brides and their wedding dates.

2. I don't really know if a location exists that you describe. Maybe El Patio or one of the pools may interest you, but neither have an over hang that you are looking for. Again, if you look on page 1 of the thread, sunbride has a description of each of the reception locations.

hmmm... so... Aurora emailed me today and said that"We would like to offer you the Relax Pool Terrace for your Reception dinner this location is more private and Elegant and perfect because you will have music please see the pictures in the attachment and confirm me that you want to get it." I thought I wanted the dolphin pool, uhhh so I guess now I'll have the relax pool, HAHAHA. Is there enough light at the relaxed pool for a night reception?!? hmm... seems not so much. I guess I'll have to buy candles or something!

Hey...here is the list...it doesn't get updated that often. Maybe just add your name to it. There is a list of things to post (see below as well)...i've done it a couple of times, but still don't see my date...i think just adding a new list here is a good idea...i've been wondering as well if there are any brides out there on my date. :) I copied all of the info from the front page...sunbride, should we send the info directly to you?

BRIDE LIST (DETAILED)

*note, not all brides are on this list (past brides are only on if they write a review and provide me the info after the wedding, upcoming brides are only on if they provide me their info) the above short list of brides has all BDW Dreams Tulum brides

This list will help other brides in determining who is having some of the same elements as them and they can contact you for questions or read your review for more info on particular aspects.

If you post your info in the thread, Sunbride will add it to the list (but please be patient, it is only updated more or less once a month as it takes a lot of time and a moderator needs to get involved to do it)

hmm...strange to get that email out of the blue. i've been thinking that i would like the relax pool area a little better. it just seems more secluded and i like that. i really want to deck out the reception with candles creating a sexy warm mood. did she send you any new photos of that area that you can share?

thank you for the post!

Haha that's so funny because that is the same exact email except mine was to offer me the Dolphin Pool... they must use all the same wording! If you still want the Dolphin pool I would still pursue it - honestly they probably gave it to someone else and they're trying to make the relax pool sound better to you. When we were there, I had originally wanted the relax pool but after I saw some receptions it was way too dark, far away from any bathroom or bar, etc. But it's all personal preference!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
