Hmmm, if I could have gone to some where new for our honeymoon I would have picked Costa Rica. Figure the flight from Mexico can't be that bad and its on my top 5 places I will go before I die list. But, we are just staying in Mexico for 13 days. I think January is a great time to travel in the carribean. Yay for January brides! I know I'm probably no help at all. Hopefully one of the TA's on here can make some good suggestions.

There are a few logistics to keep in mind with a different destination but if you really want to have an experience and have the time and budget for it-I'd say go for the different destrination!

My vote would be St. Lucia- it's georgeous and lush, a totally different vibe than Mexico, the island is small enough to get around and enjoy without having to spend all day traveling (like you would in Costa Rica if you wanted to participate in the main activities like the cloud forest and stay in a beach destination), close to Martinique if you want a day trip!

If you need help just let me know!

More than likly you will end up flying back to the states and then on to the Caribbean- of course it'll depend on where you end up deciding on.

What are you looking for in a honeymoon- all inclusive, an active honeymoon or lay on a beach and chill, a boutique hotel, a private island, shopping, casinos, rustic, chic or luxury accomodations, a destination known for snorkeling & diving, golf, deep sea fishing?

I'd sit down with your honey and make a list of what each of you want and what your budget is- that can really help narrow down the destination.

We're going to the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon from St. Lucia. FI wanted Aruba, but it costs the same to fly there from St. Lucia as it does from New York, so we decided to hold off on that island.

I had no intention of going to the DR, but I fell in love with Excellence Resort, so that's why we're going there. Since we didn't care what island we went to, I just started researching resorts. We narrowed it down to a few top choices and then looked at how easy/difficult it would be to get there from St. Lucia and what the cost would be. What helped was that we are flying with the same airline the entire time, so we saved money by doing a multi-city reservation.

As a side note, you're probably wondering why we're not staying in St Lucia. I'll be there for a week before the wedding and we just went there last October, so we wanted to try a new place. I HIGHLY encourage you to look into St. Lucia though. I love it there.

ooohhhh yes! Jade Mountain is amazing!

The in room infinity pools are breathtaking! It is a hike to get to the beach but they have shuttles! Also they have a great dive shop on site and are located right next to the marine reserve so you will have great snorkeling!

I would recommend the food inclusive program as it can be a little pricy without it (depends on your eating habits though!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
