Paying for Bridesmaids Trip

Recommended Posts

If I ask someone to stand in my wedding, do I need to pay for their flight and hotel expenses? A long time ago someone mentioned this to me and it;s been in my mind ever since we decided to have a DW. And now I hesitate to have any bridesmaids because I may not be able to afford their travel and mine. More than likely, if I had bridesmaids I probably would let them pick their own dresses, just request a particular color. Any thoughts?

No you do not have to pay for their trip. Some girls pay for their dresses. Other girls wait til their friends book their trips and then ask them to be BM, but you have no obligation to pay anyone's trip besides yourself. I know this has been mentioned before, so try a little searching and you may find more out there.

I agree that you do not need to pay for their expenses. If they are unable to make it do to finances, than that is to bad, but it shouldn't be up to you to pay their way. If you are having a DW, you have to expect that not everyone will be coming, even if they say they are.

I asked my BM before actually booking the trip, and 2 have backed out due to money issues.

Im not paying for the trips either. I asked them and they said yes knowing where it would be. Originally we wanted Puerto Rico so when we changed to Mexico we told our bridal party we would pay for thier passports. They all seemed happy about that. We are also paying for spa treatments for the girls and a round of golf for the guys.

We are not paying for anyone's trip to Mexico. I did, however, buy the girl's dresses and shoes and am getting them a bunch a gifts and spa gif certificate at the resort. I only have two BMs, but if either of them had to back out for money reasons I would completely understand. If you have the budget to pay for them and that is something that you want to do to make sure they are able to come then I say go for it, but if not I think they should pay their own way.

We are not paying for their trips...I have 7 girls....

We were origionally having a HUGE wedding at home, so when we changed to a Destination Wedding I told each girl seperatly that "I want you to come and I still do want you to be in it, but if you can't afford both, I'd rather you come than be in it, and if you can't afford to come or be in it, we really do understand"

All 7 are coming and being in it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
